Stan Robinson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jan. 29 to Feb. 1, 2015.
Robinson Stan Robinson, 83, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend to all, passed away on January 28, 2015. Stan was born in 1931 in Mt. Kisco, New York where he started his career as a radio broadcaster in 1949. He later moved to Ohio where he was a radio and television personality for the next six decades and celebrated his 66th year in broadcasting on January 15, 2015. He was the first weatherman on WCMH-TV in Columbus, Ohio and ended his illustrious career with his radio show "Midday with Stan," which aired daily on WFCO-FM in Lancaster. Known as 'The Voice of Fairfield County,' Stan was loved by all for his many contributions to the community and his generous friendship and help to others. Stan was preceded in death by his beloved wife Zelma (Zee), and is survived by his seven children, Randy, Kevin (Carolyn), Pam (Greg Blair), Lisa (Kevin Decot), Rebecca, Nicole (Kevin Holland), and Claudia (Dale Bartow); 23 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was a family man first, but Stan also loved his community and shared his special talent for helping others in numerous ways. He was an honorary lifetime member of the Charity Newsies and a member of the F.O.E. Aries 2120, FOP, Lancaster Kiwanis, and the Fairfield County Fair Board. During his 12 years on the television show "Town and Country" on the LSN local cable network and his radio show on WFCO-FM, Stan provided a community service to countless organizations by giving them air time to share their stories and help their causes. In 2011, Stan was inducted into the Ohio Associated Press Broadcasters Hall of Fame and Governor Kasich recognized him with an achievement award on the occasion of his 65th anniversary in broadcasting in 2014. Stan literally touched the lives of thousands of people by doing what he did best every day of his life. I wish to extend my deepest thoughts and prayers to the Robinson family. I first met Stan in the early 90's when he was the emcee for the Baltimore Festival Parade where I was his spotter. Then in 2007 when I became the parade chairman, I started doing his Town & Country show to talk about the festival & parade. Stan made me feel relaxed and at ease being in front of cameras. When he retired, he also retired from being the parade emcee. We got together again on his radio show, Midday With Stan then to talk about the festival & parade again. I remember my last visit with him I had told Stan I remember him from his days doing the weather on ch4 in Columbus. He got a big laugh from this and said I was showing my age saying that. I will miss my friend and our talks. I am lucky to have a couple of our talks recorded so I can hear his voice again. Thank you Mr. Robinson.
