The Austman Family
Our deepest sympathy to each of you and our regrets that we are not home to attend the memorial, as we are vacationing in Central America.
We have amazing memories over the years, as a great neighbor and a genuine friend. Stan taught me the game of curling, and Barry and him competed in some tremendous bonspiels. It always amazed us how he could remember every game and every highlight shot, guess that's where the saying "love of the game" must come from. In later years we admired his dedication in helping addicted youth. We also were always impressed of his devotion to Kenaston, never missing any special event, Phyllis and him would always attend.
We share in your sorrow and trust God will give you peace and comfort at this most difficult time.
" Put it on the Pud Stan "

Dear Phyllis and Austman Family:
My thoughts and prayers are with you. Stan was a kind, humble and gentle man. His love of curling and his contributions to the game which resulted in the introduction of the hog line will be remembered. Jeff Stoughton would have been proud to see Stan sliding down the ice rink and depositing the rock on the button! God bless you Stan for making many people happy in your lifetime!

I met Stan at the City Men's Bondspiel in a final. He beat us in a great game. We won fir mitts and they won fir hats. Stan said "By God I am going to wear this hat" . It was a great moment of humor that I have always remembered!

To The Austman Family,
Liz and I first met Brother Austman when we transferred our Elks membership to the Hanley Lodge in 2006. It didn't take long for us to see what a great positive influence he had in our Lodge Meetings. It was a very proud moment for Stan and the Lodge when he received his 45 Year Pin in April 2011. He will be missed.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. May your memories bring you comfort.

The Austman family,

My condolences on your loss. I was a competitor in the Schoolboys' Playdowns in Saskatoon, when Stan (wearing the trademark hat) demonstrated the need for the hog line rule. His former coach Ken Moir, and team mate Merv Mann, were in the audience. Tales of the feat were taken back to schools and curling rinks across Saskatchewan. It was something I'll always remember.

To the Family of Stan Austman:
I was very sad to learn of Stan's passing. In the good old days at the Nutana Curling Club, Stan was one of the curlers that I tried to emulate. His contributions to the sport of curling will perhaps not be widely recognized; however, I recall seeing film footage of Stan demonstrating his ability to slide the length of the ice, in the days before the teflon sliders were introduced.
I feel very privileged to have known Stan, a man who was a genuine icon, but who remained a regular guy.
Sincere sympathy,

Murray, Della, Blaine & Courtney Siroski
