Stanley CUTHAND

I remember him as a very special man and colleague of my father, Rev. John M. Buck, in the Anglican Diocese of Calgary.
I am so sorry for your loss.

To the Cuthand family,
Stan and Chris were wonderful friends to my mom, Margaret(Garland)Umscheid when they both working at Cardston. They were my god parents and I remember them visiting us at our farm near Milo, Alberta when I was a little girl. Stan married my parents in 1960 and they also were special guests at my wedding in 1992. My mom spoke very highly of your parents and she would want me to extend our sympathy as she passed away on June 5, 2016.

My condolences to the family for your loss. Seeing the name Reverend Stan Cuthand takes me back to the late 1950's when through his sister Jean I got to meet him at their home a few times. He was a kind and gentle man.

When I worked at the Canadian Bible Society I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Cuthand during the time he was working on the Cree translation & saw first hand the joy the release of the parallel New Testament brought. I remember the day a lady came into the store & clutched a copy of the newly completed translation to her chest, her eyes full of tears, she said, "Reading the Word of God in the language of your heart is like nothing else". I remember what a gracious gentleman Stan Cuthand was. He bestowed his many gifts & talents in generous ways to all. Well done, he truly was while with us & is a good & faithful servant. God bless & keep your family as you mourn, but also as you celebrate his life. It was so well lived. May his legacy continue.

My sincerest condolences to the Cuthand family. He has left us all an amazing legacy and will be imprinted on the Indigenous history of Saskatchewan/the Great Plains forever, both for the life he lived but also the stories he shared.

After Stan and his wife came back from Ecuador in the 1980s he was involved with our group in Winnipeg. He put us in touch with his contacts in Ecudor and myself and another person from our group went to Ecuador to attend our first of many visits with our Indigenous brothers and sisters.I would like to send my condolences to the Cuthand family for giving our Indigenous community a great person like Stan. To the Cuthand Family, I was honoured to be Stan's accountant for many years. He was a special man who will be missed by family and the community. May time help make your memories of him even more golden.

We were so honored to have known Stan for many years . Barb was taught some classes by him when she was a student in 1983 to 1987 with the Indian Social Work Program. That is where I first met Stan.When we had that dreadful year 1995 when we lost our babies Earl, Leora n Bull in that terrible accident Stan was one if the Elders that helped us through our grief. we will forever be greatful .He will be missed dearly, we would like to.say thank you to the family for sharing your precious, gentle, loving, caring, father with us n so many others. What a legacy and an inspiration A celebration of a well lived life <3

I was a student of Stan's at U of M, so many years ago. I have often thought of him and credit him for my 39 year career working with Anishnabe organizations.

Stan was an inspirational man. I feel honoured to have known him. I am sure this next journey will see him sharing his knowledge and wisdom and more importantly, his quiet laughter.

Sincere condolences to the family. He was a sincere , modest intellectual and spiritual giant and helped me unselfishly with advice for my doctoral thesis.
