KUCEY, Dr. Stanley Stephen
June 6, 1927 - July 17, 2011







It is with heavy hearts that our
family announces the passing of
Dr. Stanley Kucey, loving husband,
father, grandfather, uncle, and
friend.
Forever remembered and missed
by his loving wife of 54 years,
Lorraine (nee Moshansky); his
children, Dr. Brian (Dr. Elena),
Cindy (Max) Bailey, Dr. Daryl
(Sheila), and Kelvin (Margaret). He
will be greatly missed by his
cherished grandchildren, Laura,
Ellie, Christine, Alexander, Andrew, Daniel,
Catherine, Jaclyn and Logan; as well as many
nieces and nephews, brothers-in-law, Virgil
(June) and Robert (Gloria) Moshansky;
extended family members and friends. He is
predeceased by his parents, Stephen and
Mary; siblings, Joseph, Michael, Anne,
Caroline, Nancy and brother-in-law, Greg; as
well as their spouses.
Stanley was born in Myrnam, Alberta and
lived with his family on the homestead farm
until he moved to Edmonton to attend the
University of Alberta where he completed a
BSc (1953) and Doctor of Dental Surgery
(1955). He established Kucey Dental Group
and later practiced with Brian and Elena until
his retirement in 2001. He was a Clinical
Professor of operative dentistry for 38 years
at the University of Alberta Faculty of
Dentistry. Always an active supporter of his
community, Stanley was a member of the
South Edmonton Lions Club where he
established lifelong friends. Stanley had a
very devout faith and was active with St.
Basils Ukrainian Catholic Church including
serving as a lector, Bishop Budka Fourth
Degree Knights of Columbus, and parish
council.
A special thank you to the doctors and staff of
the Cross Cancer Institute, the University of
Alberta Hospital, and to Dr. Doug Strilchuk for
their care and compassion.
The Prayer Service will be held on Thursday,
July 21, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. followed by Divine
Liturgy on Friday, July 22, 2011 at 10:00 a.m.
at St. Basils Ukrainian Catholic Church, 7007
- 109 Street, Edmonton with Basilian Fathers
officiating. Private interment in Rosehill
Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may
be made to the Dr. Stanley S. Kucey
Leadership Award in Dentistry, Faculty of
Medicine & Dentistry, University of Alberta,
8440 112 Street, Room 2J2.00 WMC,
Edmonton, AB T6G 2R7 or to the Basilian
Fathers House of Studies, 12909 113

Dear Lorraine and Family;

My deepest sympathy to hear of the loss of Stan. I shall miss his hearty laugh and his kind words of wisdom. He was always cheerful and so encouraging, enjoying life to the fullest. I shall miss him as a dear friend.
