Stella Foster

MONTAGUE - Stella (Baigrie) Foster, age 94, of Montague, formerly of Stroudsburg, Pa., passed peacefully from Earth to Heaven on Aug. 24, 2017.
Born on May 3, 1923, to David R. and Stella (Vanderhoof) Baigrie, Stella grew up on a dairy farm on Beaver Run Road in Lafayette, with her sister, Dorothy, and her cousins, Anne, Esther and twins, Janet and Carol. As a young child, she attended the one-room Statesville Schoolhouse and graduated from Newton High School in 1941. While working at Selective Risks Insurance in Branchville, Stella met and married Linc Foster in 1947, and they settled in a little cabin on Woodlawn Road in Lake Mohawk, at a time when there were few year-round residents. It was there that they raised their family and actively served in Lafayette Federated Church, where Stella taught Sunday School, led young people's groups and sang in the choir. After retirement, they moved to East Stroudsburg, Pa., in 1987, and became active in First Baptist Church where they made many dear friends. Stella's heart and home were always open to welcome in anyone, and Linc and Stella's generosity touched many throughout the years. She will be dearly missed.
Her darling Linc passed away in December, 2010, at age 92, and Stella recently moved back to New Jersey to be with family. She is survived by her son, David and wife, Linda, of Gainesville, Fla., her son, Bruce and wife, Marie, of Montague; and her daughter, Marcia Booth and husband, Terry, of Forest City, Pa.; as well as eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services and interment in Frankford Plains Cemetery are private and are under the direction of the Wood Funeral Home, 16 Main St., Branchville.
