Stella Rosiak

Stella (Stephanina) Isabel Rosiak (Chornoby) 1930 ~ 2019 Rosiak, Stella born June 4th, 1930 in the RM of Ethelbert, Manitoba, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2019 at the age of 88 years. Stella was predeceased by her husband, Joe; son, Clifford; daughter, Joann; parents, George and Victoria Chornoby; in laws, Dan and Victoria Rosiak; 10 brothers, 3 sister as well as numerous other family members. Stella was the 9th of 16 children born to George and Victoria Chornoby. She grew up and received her education near Sclater, Manitoba. Stella left home at the age of 17 and began working in the Dauphin Hospital Cafeteria for 2 years. She met her husband Joe in 1951 and married 3 months later. They settled in Trossachs in 1959 and remained there until 1984 at which time they moved to Regina. When Joe and Stella first moved to Trossachs, they lived in the train station and Stella sold tickets to passengers. She was an active member of the United Church of Canada. When Joe passed away in 1985, Stella began working at the Grey Nun's Convent in Regina. She cooked for the nuns for many years and they loved her dearly. In 1988 Stella moved back to Weyburn and resided here until her passing. While in Weyburn she cleaned at the post office for a few years. Stella worked hard raising her family of 10 children but enjoyed all of it. Stella will always be remembered by her sons, Bruce Rosiak, George Rosiak & Bud (Kathy) Rosiak all of Weyburn; daughters, Judy (Lethbridge), Cindy Horvath & family (Regina), Kim (Dan) Balkwill & family (Halbrite), Roxanne (Phil) Gerry & family (Trossachs), Karen Rosiak (Darren) & family (Caronport); 18 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; brother, George (Pauline) of Cochrane, AB; sister, Evelyn of Dauphin, MB; sister in law, Adeline Chornoby and Pat Rosiak as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends. A special thanks from the family to the nurses on the 3rd floor of the Weyburn General Hospital for their excellent care and compassion for their mother, Stella, as well as thanks to the Home Care nurses who regularly came to her house. Visitation was held on Friday, March 22, 2019 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and the Funeral Service on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend M. Barnabas officiating. Both services were held at Fletcher Funeral Chapel, Weyburn, Saskatchewan. Interment followed at Trossachs Cemetery, Trossachs, Saskatchewan.
