Stephen Barth Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 1, 2023.
Stephen was welcomed into the loving arms of the Lord on July 27, 2023. He was born on May 23, 1947, in St. Louis, Missouri to Walter and Ruth Barth.

Stephen was a man of deep faith. After several years as a Boy Scout Executive, he entered into ministry. Stephen graduated from Saint Paul School of Theology and received his Master of Divinity from Lindenwood College. He was an ordained minister in the United Methodist Conference where he served in several churches until his retirement in 2005 to Vero Veach, Florida.

Stephen was an active member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Vero Beach, serving on the Board of Trustees. He called his pastor a "true friend" and loved his chats with him. His favorite ministries were family worship nights and serving the needy in the community. Stephen was always willing to do whatever he could for his church family.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy, his siblings, Elizabeth, William, and Pamela, his daughters, Cara, Dena, Anna, and Leah, fifteen grandchildren, two stepsons, and four step grandchildren. Stephen was loved by all, and his favorite saying was, "Shalom, my friend, until we meet again." A celebration of life will be held on August 20 at 10 AM at Asbury United Methodist Church, 1708 43rd Avenue, Vero Beach, Florida 32960.

Steve you will be greatly missed by the Class of 1965 Francis Howell. We for sure go back a long way. I made a gift to the Heart association in your memory for the class.

So sorry for your loss Kathy. Stephen was such a wonderful man and we were so thankful when he jumped right in to help with the offering time and communion time here at Asbury when Bob couldn't do it any longer. Even though we only knew him for a short time, we will remember him forever.
Love & prayers to you and the family, Helen Ferguson & Bob Emm

My last visit with Stephen was when he was back in Missouri, and he surprised me at the early service of the church I was serving. He only drove about 25 miles from where he was staying to make it to worship, when there were several excellent opportunities much closer. We greeted each other with hugs, and I was blessed by his friendship and ministry over the many years we served together in the Missouri Conference.

we pray that your grief will be surrounded by our loving God and friends. sometimes it is hard to understand how a special man can leave this earth so early. we can only know that God needed another angel and called him home.

You will be so missed Uncle Steve. I´m so grateful that we recently had time together as a family in Branson. Spending time at the pool, lake day, and I´m so glad I got to spend an afternoon playing golf with you and 2 of your grandsons.

Love,
Dave W.
