Florida Master Naturalist Program and found him to be the best of the best. Much more open-minded than almost any natuyralist I have known. Always interested in discussion of naything natural historic;

Steve and I had so many fun times taping Naturescope. Always a world of knowledge and lots of fun. I didn't know he had cancer. Valerie, my condolences to you and the family. Susan Chadburn

It was great to know Steve. I always learned something - whether at Gumbo Limbo or working with Dan Austin on the ID booklets or his excitement to play with a GPS while managing new natural areas, or showing FL Master Naturalists how to core a pine tree - it was always an adventure with magnetic enthusiasm. He will be sorely missed but so happy to have had the opportunity to interact with him over the years.

I first met Steve at the original studies of then "WHRS-FM" many years ago. When we became WXEL-FM/TV, we stayed in touch as best we could. Steve was fun, funny, and a very GOOD person. Rest in peace in heaven, Steve.

Sad to hear of the passing of this great man, he taught me a great deal about the environment and ecosystem that make up the great state of Florida. He will truly be missed. - Christopher Waltz
