In memory of
Hudson River Kayak Trip, 1992
Jack Nelson
July 18, 2017
Steve was an accomplished white water kayaker and President of the Farmington River Club during most of the 1990's. He organized and motivated the club and mentored many of us as individuals to paddle new and more difficult rivers, always in a safe and environmentally considerate manner. Above all - he was always a friend to all. Truly a good and kind Man and a class act. We'll miss you Steve. (Photo by Al Perrie. Steve is far left in photo)

I was a classmate of Steve's at E.O. Smith and was very saddened to hear at our first planning session for our 50th year reunion that Steve had recently passed away. He was a sweet, smart and appealing person. I send my deepest sympathy to his loved ones. Kathy Alape Carpenter

While doing online research for our 50th High School Reunion, I sadly came across this Obituary. I am so sorry to hear of Steve's illness and passing and will certainly let our classmates know. Please accept my sincere sympathy for your loss and know that our class has only good memories of Steve and Michael and Lucy. I saw Steve several years ago after many years when Michael brought him into my office (Horizon Travel in Storrs) to say hello. It was so nice seeing Steve again after many years and now both Mike and Steve are gone. My heart is broken for you.

My deepest sympathies on the loss of Steve. He was a kind and caring man who loved to help others. Our family and his were close neighbors and friends whose lives shared special memories in the early years in Storrs. The connections remained as our lives changed and the miles separated us. May all the wonderful memories shine through the cloud of these past few years. Love you Steve.......sherry kennedy hollay

Come to Me: God saw you were getting tired, And a cure was not to be,So he put his arms around you, And whispered, "Come to Me."With tearful eyes we watched you, And saw you pass away.Although we loved you dearly, We could not make you stay.A golden heart stopped beating, Hard working hands at rest.God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best.

Steve was a true gentleman, and a loving teacher with great compassion for his students. He will be greatly missed here at Northeast Middle School. My thoughts and prayers are with you as you mourn your husband, father and grandpa.

Steve was such a great person and an awesome friend. Always giving of himself. Even after he retired from Northeast Middle School he came back almost weekly to see the students he had worked with and to visit with us. No one can fill his shoes. He will be fondly remembered.

I am deeply saddened to learn of Steve's passing. I knew Michael from EO Smith, then coincidently, met Steve through FOSA. Both gone much too soon. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family.

Steve was such a kind gentleman. He had such patience with his students and was always able to joke when we had a bad day. I remember his kindness to me when my own mother passed away.
