Stephen Corbett Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 11, 2025.
Stephen Richard Corbett, 53, of Clearwater, Florida, went to be with Jesus on May 15, 2025.

Born on July 24, 1971, in Louisville, Kentucky, to Gene and Charlotte Corbett. Stephen was a sweet child-full of life and very adventurous-traits that would remain with him throughout his life.

He attended Cramerton Christian Elementary, Grier Middle School, and graduated from Ashbrook High School in 1989. He went on to earn his Bachelor's Degree in Theatre and Business from Appalachian State University in 1994, where he was a proud member of the Alpha Psi Omega Dramatic Fraternity.

Stephen pursued his love of the arts in Wilmington, North Carolina, focusing on acting and dancing. He later moved to Florida to join the Fred Astaire Dance Studio, where his passion and talent flourished. Shortly after, he met the love of his life, Lisa, and the two married on July 7, 2007, a day that marked the beginning of a beautiful life together.

Professionally, Stephen held managerial roles at BB&T and Wells Fargo before becoming a top-performing Financial Advisor with Bankers Life Securities, Inc., where he dedicated the past 15 years to helping others secure their financial futures with compassion and integrity.

Stephen was a man of many passions. He loved to cook and especially enjoyed grilling on his Big Green Egg. He was a devoted viewer of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives and the Animal Channel. He had a deep affection for animals and shared a special bond with his late dogs, Bailey and Dylan, and his loyal companion, Meisha, who remains by Lisa's side.

A true sports fanatic, Stephen was a lifelong fan of Notre Dame and the Carolina Tar Heels. In Florida, he proudly rooted for the Rays, Bucs, and Bolts. He also took great pride in his home and landscaping, always keeping his surroundings beautiful and welcoming.

Stephen shared a strong and enduring bond with his family. He was a mama's boy through and through, and his connection with his Mom was a deep and constant source of faith and love in his life.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Lisa Corbett; his parents, Gene and Charlotte Corbett; his sister, Laura Jean Corbett; his nieces, Brittany (Matt) Hall and Kelley (Rylan) Falls; his great-nieces, Josie and Emma Hall, Caroline Falls, and a baby boy on the way; and Lisa's mom, Lenore Adams. He was preceded in death by his loving grandparents, Wilma Josephine Pickett and Bradley Charles Pickett, who always called Stephen their "precious"-a name that captured the light he brought into their lives and the hearts of so many. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents; Ruby Ruth Corbett and Harold Evans Corbett.

Stephen was the life of every party-joyful, vibrant, and full of laughter. He will be remembered by extended family, friends, colleagues, and clients for his warmth, loyalty, generous spirit, and unforgettable energy.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, June 29th, drop-in from 1:00 to 4:00 PM at his parents' home. 112 N. Belvedere Ave., Gastonia, NC 28054.

My precious Stephen.
It will soon be 3 months since your passing, and I miss you more everyday. It is not easy losing a child but I have the assurance I will see you again for eternity.
I thank the Lord everyday, that we had 14 months to be together and share special times.
Although I really believed you would be healed, I continue to trust the Lord in all things and know His plan is perfect.
Until we meet again, love, Mom

Dear Lisa , I was searching under "S for Sedona " and Stephen´s obituary appeared. I took this as an opportunity to express my deepest condolences for your loss. Stephen was loyal, honest, fun-loving and most importantly, He was kind. I hope by extending that kindness to yourself a sense of pride and peace will surround and protect you. I wish I could return the hugs that you so lovingly extended to me. I continue to send loving kindness to you every day. Grab them. Until we meet again. Aunt Jenny

Although I had not been in touch with him for the past several years, the news of his passing reached me this morning and I am devestated. Stephen was very special to me as a student at Ashbrook, and a dear friend afterward. His vibrance and positive nature filled any room he entered. He was bigger than life. His passing leaves a void for so many other lives. I will always remember him and when I think of him, he still brings a smile to my face.

One of my fondest memories of Stephen was when we both lived in Pleasant Run Farms in Cincy....I was ten years older than he but I always took him up to my room to listen to KISS on my stereo!! He loved it!! Momma Char wasn´t really too pleased with me but we always joked about it from then on!! I would like to hope that´s partly where he developed his love for rock music!! Rest in peace cousin, you will be missed greatly!! Love always, Scott (&!Debbie) Bosecker

I would sit outside your office and patiently wait for you to be done with work for the day.

Then you would get up from your chair....clap your hands so loud and yell "Run Romey run".

I'd get the "zoomies" and run and run thru the "big house".
You and Aunty Lisa would laugh so hard .....

Then I would sit with you on the couch and just hang out. We had a lot of good times together for sure.
It was a guy thing. It was pretty cool.

Miss you Uncle Stevie ........
Love...hugs and paws up always....
