Stephen Croxford, 75, passed away July 19, 2024 surrounded by family following a battle with cancer. Stephen was born September 28, 1948 in Hartford, CT to Harry and Ivy Croxford, the second of their 5 children.

Stephen spent his life serving his country and his community. Following high school, Steve joined the US Army and served in the Vietnam War. A Purple Heart recipient, Steve was honorably discharged in 1970.

After the war, Steve served his home city of Hartford as a firefighter for 23 years until his retirement.

He then went on to serve the State of CT as a State Marshall for a number of years until he retired to Florida, where he remained an active member of VFW and American Legion.

Steve is survived by two sons with first wife Diane (Ray) Croxford Walker: Stephen (Beth Jankowski) Croxford Jr and Matthew (Jennifer Nichols) Croxford and two sons with second wife Kelli Sullivan: Kyle Croxford and Ryan Croxford.

He is also survived by granddaughter Kaitlyn Croxford and her sisters Julia Fulcher, Rain (Danny) Stewart, and Lauren Fulcher, brothers Gary (Edie) Croxford and Mark Croxford, sister Glenda (Paul) Meyer, third wife Lynn Wade, many nieces, nephews, and loyal friends. He is preceded in death by parents Harry and Ivy Croxford, sister Nancy Fernance and half-brother Harry Croxford.

A life-long fan of the New York Yankees, Steve could often be found watching ball games. Steve was known to all as a fun-loving, generous, happy person who was always the life of the party. He will be remembered for all the heart he shared with his friends and family. He truly loved each of them- and if you knew him, you knew it. When his time came, he carried himself with dignity, strength, and love. He will be missed dearly.

To honor Steve's memory, a service with full military honors will be held at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Mims, FL on August 14, 2024 precisely at 10:00 AM with a reception to follow. Please arrive to the ceremony by 9:30 AM.

The room would always light up
as soon as Steve entered it. He was truly a joy to be around, with a great sense of humor. I will always recall the compassion he showed to others.
We spoke often of his family and his sons especially, all whom he love and adored.
Lots of good memories of the road trips to Yankee Stadium with
Steve. You could not ask for a better friend. God bless you, Gil

Steve I´m so sorry i didn´t get a chance to come down to see you in Florida i thought you had more time with us all, you will be forever be remembered in my prayers for as long as I´m here. I can´t remember ever seeing you or talking with you when you didn´t make me laugh, COT was a great place to grow up, fun times playing kickball, football, and Baseball at prince Tech, I´ll always Remember that curve ball that you had which nobody could ever hit, and the time you started work as a Fireman, and the first call you went on you jumped off the fire truck and got hit by a car. Not a good start, you saved a lot of people and houses. I loved you like a brother and I´m sure you knew that. Rest Easy my friend until we meet again.
