Stephen Gibbs Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 19, 2025.
On the morning of March 7, 2025, Stephen Neil Gibbs, known to his friends as "Jake," passed away peacefully at the age of 74 at his home in Lake Worth, FL after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease.

Jake was born on October 28, 1950, in Swampscott, MA. He was an avid reader with a love for orchids. He took great pleasure in swimming, watching Jeopardy, making people laugh, and both cooking and savoring good food.

Jake is survived by his daughters, whom he cherished more than anything, Elizabeth "Theo" Gibbs and Olivia Gibbs. He also leaves behind his dearest friends Sheri Blaney, Richard Share, and Katherine Stromland.

Additionally, he is survived by his sister, Diane Sculley and her husband, John Sculley; his brother, Richard Gibbs and his wife Jennifer Gibbs; his nephew, David Gibbs; and his nieces, Kimberly (Gibbs) Kirschner, Jessica Gibbs, and Haley Gibbs. He was predeceased by his mother, Thelma (Grover) Gibbs; his stepfather, Henry Gibbs; and father, Sidney M. Finkelstein.

Jake is forever grateful to the dedicated nurses and aides who remained by his side day and night in his final months – especially Pilar and Kayla – whose kindness brought him great comfort.

In lieu of flowers, his loved ones suggest contributions be made to The Parkinson's Foundation in his memory.

May his memory be a blessing to those who knew him.
