My sympathies for the family on the loss of one of our microbiology gurus! Dr Hnatko had a passion for teaching and will be remembered by many nurses. He was a very generous man and shared many clinical images with me.

Dear Mrs Hnatco and family. I'm very sorry to hear of Steve's death. I first got to know him when I returned to the UA as MMI's department chair in 2003. It was clear that he was loved and respected by generations of our students and his efforts on behalf of people close to his home in Alberta, and in other far-flung places, is truly commendable. Dear Mrs. Hnatko and family. I was saddened to hear of Dr. Hnatko's passing. He and I worked together for almost 30 years in Microbiology at the lab. He is fondly remembered by all his former staff. Today I went through some old photos of some of our social celebrations for our department and Dr. H. could be seen smiling, telling jokes, and keeping our wine glasses filled.
