I worked on with Steve at the Village of Endicott Police Department in the late 1970s into the mid eighties. He was a good officer, and a true gentleman who has strong family values. Working with him was truly an honor.

On this last day of April, I will remember how we met, on March 31, 1966. We stayed up all night just talking, laughing and making out(just a little) until it was dawn on April fools day. Now after 636 months together our time has been suspended, until we meet again, I can't wait to spend eternity with you, my love.

I will always remember Steve and his smile. He was the perfect hire for the new BAT mobile program at FTA. There are countless people alive today because of Steve's dedication and effort to remove impaired drivers from the roadways. But he was way more than that. He was a mentor, a father, a grandfather, and a friend. I remember when I experienced a health scare of my own, he was always encouraging and letting me know I would ultimately be ok. He was always available if you had questions and needed advice or needed a shoulder to cry on or lean on. Godspeed BATMAN! Go rest high on the mountain friend! You've earned it!

Steve Morgart, A Legend.. When I first met Steve, I was looking for an individual to work with me to implement the State's first Breath Alcohol Testing Mobile Unit. Steve was a retired law enforcement officer from update NY. Well for most that would be a challenge, but for me having been born & raised in upstate NY Steve & I seem to have started a bond. Steve's personality & professionalism was a GREAT fit for the newly developed Breath Alcohol Testing Mobile Unit Coordinator (1996). I remember to this day my words to Steve were "I need this program to be a success, and if you are hired you will be the one responsible to either MAKE this program or BREAK this program". And without hesitation, Steve's response was "you better sit back & take notes because I will make this the best program in the NATION". Which over the early years, the BAT Unit Program received numerous local & State awards to include an award from the National Highway Safety Administration award given to the Governor of NC for it's efforts in reducing DWI drivers & saving lives on our streets & highways by utilizing the BEST BAT Mobile Unit Program in the Nation. Steve's personal skills, knowledge and leadership was the reason for the success of the program. Steve was not only a co-working but a personal friend as we worked together though the many years. Steve Morgart aka BATMAN will always be remembered. Thank you Steve for your friendship and memories. I will think of you always and especially you laugh & smile, always.... Love You Brother...

Steve was my supervisor at CCBI over 20 years ago. He was the best supervisor I have ever worked for period. Kind, intelligent, understanding and forceful when he needed to be forceful. I had the pleasure of working with him also with the BAT Mobile. Loved going to a checkpoint that I knew he would be working. I think his smile was permanent. Praying for your whole family.

It was an honor to know Steve and work with him to battle impaired driving in North Carolina. I always enjoyed being around Steve and spent countless hours at checking stations, meetings, events, etc. with Steve. He was a wonderful human being that always talked about his family. Great guy and a huge loss to North Carolina. The family is in my thoughts and prayers.

To all the family I would like to express my deepest sympathy during this most difficult time. I first meet Steve in 1996 when he came to hillsborough to teach a class. I was a Sgt then and he spoke to me about his new BAT program with FTA. Little did I know then but 3 years later Steve had made the program so successful they needed another person and I was hired. Steve was my mentor and best friend during those BAT mobile days. We spent more time together than we did with our own families. We watched each other's family grow from just sons and daughters to having our own grandchildren. I'm a better man and person for having known Steve. Steve was like a Dad to me. He was one of kind. I will always carry some piece of him in my life and heart. Thank you for sharing Steve with me and many many others in this thing called life. I loved Steve and will always continue to love his memories. God speed BATMAN... your Boy Wonder

Words alone could hardly echo who Steve was to so many people. He inspired others to do and be better and encouraged those to enjoy life as he did himself. Family always came first to Steve and he would always step up to help during the weakest moments. Steve amassed friends every place he went as his quick wit and humor made him an easy to know person. He will Always will be in our thoughts. We will miss you deeply, Steve.
