YOUR SON

April 19, 2010

And I put my boat in the water
A tear will fall for for you
I wipe the tears from my face with your old shirt for the last time
I cry about the last time I said goodbye to you

More then oceans separate us
More then continents themselves
But in my heart you will remain
Along with everything you taught me

Memories seep from my veins
Vivid pictures of you lay softly in the back of my mind
But you now rest
Everyday I wish you were here

And everyday I picture you
I remember you
And everyday I struggle with the reality that you’re gone
And with that struggle I make it threw another day

Everything happens for a reason
And no one ever tore us apart
You taught me all you could in your time with me
And now my only job is to remember and never forget you

Rain is nothing but tears to me
Tears from a man who wasn’t good at sharing his emotions
Although going on without you upsets me
Everything reminds me
I’m not afraid to cry
I pretend to be ok everyday
And it’s always hard to deal with the pain of loosing you
And force that smile when it just won’t come.

The wake comes over the bow
The anchor is reeled in
And we missed that big one

Another tear softly falls for you Dad

Uncle Rod, been way too long. My dad and I have talked about you quite a bit over the years and we had the pleasure of going through the pics of you this week. We all missed you before this and we will all miss you more, now. I'll never forget the last thing you said to me..."hey kid, we're family, that's what matters." Thank you! xo Beth

Pops,

I'm thankful for the time I got to get to know you, and also for the memories that you have left in my heart. Being in Rhode Island were some of the best times I've ever had in my life. I loved getting to see my husband spend some much needed quality time with you. He doesn't get up at 6:30AM for ANYONE, but if it was a chance for him to go golfing with his father, he would have gotten up at 4:00AM. Whether we were playing poker while drinking our coffeemilk and eating Schaetner's Blueberry Pie, coming back from a day spent at Potter's Point, or just relaxing on the deck, there you were always with your coffee from the convienence store up the block. Pops, I hope you have a plethora of audio books to listen to up there, and I will see your face whenever I see that beautiful sunset at Beavertail.

I was but a lil girl, You came into my life… loved our mother, & made her your wife.
So many years, as a family we had, All that had known you, knew you as “Dad”
The yard, the pool, your lil tool shed, so many memories racing through my head.
Hank Williams & Johnnie and always John Wayne, you watched “boring” tv, it drove me insane.
Still, I’d sit right there with you on “your coach” that’s a fact, & as soon as I’d sit, you’d say “scratch my back”.
What about Hopkins, Darlington, & Jamestown too, places we’d go, things that we’d do…
I was your batgirl at the softball field, … I’ll cherish your story of Dan’s fish that he reeled.
What happened?.. we grew older.. took for granted the time.. lost opportunity …threw it away… what a crime.
Though distance between us, seemed to set us apart… forever and always you’ve lived in my heart.
So glad we came to see you, reminisce, talk & laugh, about all of the good times of days present & past.
I’ve remembered all you taught me, things you’d say again and again, especially my favorite ….”Do the Best you can”
Forever in my Heart…
