Stephen John Niland

DENNIS — Stephen John Niland of Dennis, formerly of Walpole, died at his home on Thursday, Nov. 8, 2007.

Steve was born on April 18, 1965, to Fran Niland of South Dennis, formerly of Boston, and Peter John Niland of North Attleboro; formerly of Boston. Steve graduated from Xaverian Brothers High School in 1983, attended the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth; received a certificate at RETS in Boston; and pursued a career in electronics as an engineering technician. He worked at Falmouth Scientific and was recently promoted to product engineer.

Steve loved living on Cape Cod. He was a published photographer and avid traveler. His love of boating led him to become a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary for several years. Steve was a computer whiz who often helped his family and friends with their computer issues. Steve enjoyed live music and went to several concerts a year.

Steve is survived by his wife of 16 years, Dee Niland; his mother, Fran Niland of Dennis; his father, Peter J. Niland of North Attleboro; a sister, Diane and Jim Desprez of Wrentham; and a brother, Peter S. Niland and his wife, Melissa, of Athol. He is also survived by his nieces, Brittany Desprez, Kiersten and Brady Niland; and his nephew, Tyler Desprez.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 14, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave, South Yarmouth; casual attire requested. A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, Nov. 15, at 10 a.m., in St. Pius X Church, Station Ave., South Yarmouth. Private family burial will follow at a later date.
