MP McLuckie, Son of RMCS (Ret) USN Tom McLuckie, on behalf of the McLuckie Family- I've had this link open on my browser for a week trying to find something to say. Steve, your friendship with my father was the capstone of his relationships with Chiefs since his initiation in 1968. I know the formation of the Niguel Street Chiefs Mess filled a great need for you both, and it sustained him as it strengthened you. Thank you for being the greatest friend to my father in his last years. We go tomorrow to lay him to his eternal rest, and while grieving you both, we know that you and he will tip more than a few in Valhalla. I've thought of many pictures of the two of you to post but the best ones are well known and already placed in memoriam; he are two lesser seen ones that show you both in good times. All of God's blessing to your family, loved ones, Navy Chiefs of all eras and sailors now manning the watch.
Until we meet once more, here's wishing you a happy voyage home.

I was with Steve on the tour his last day. Don´t know if you´ve see these. Enjoyed spending time with him at a past few Wilson reunions. Glad he made it to the fifty KohTang Reunion. He was at our table when he presented his big gold challenge coin to a Marine Drill Sargent. We drank a few yegling beers. More pictures are available on the KohTang Vets Site. Sympathy to your family.

I met Steve at a USS Henry Wilson/USS Robison- Magnificent 7 Band of Brothers reunion in Bay City, MI in 2024. While working the check-in desk for the reunion, Steve was gracious enough to pull up a chair next to me and for a couple of hours, we shared background, sea stories, and life´s pleasantries. I came away from our talk with the idea that I had made a friend for life. Oh, how I looked forward to seeing Steve at the just passed Dayton, Ohio reunion for the same group. I was devastated to learn of his passing, but I will always treasure my discussion with a truly humble, remarkable guy. Peace brother.

Even though, I worked with Steve for a short time, I benefited from his depth of technical knowledge, experience, and expertise. He knew it all but never boasted about it as long as I can think of.

These photos were taken on May 13 and highlight how Stephen spent his final moments-surrounded by fellow servicemen with whom bonds were forged 50 years ago. I´m grateful to have spent this day with him, surrounded by love.

Steve's passing is such sad, shocking news. He was a fellow plank owner aboard the USS Badger (DE-1071), and I had just seen him at our reunion in Charleston, SC in October. Steve was the salt of the earth. My wife Betsey and I send our deepest condolences to his family. At the next Badger reunion, we will raise a glass, fondly and frequently, to his service, his friendship, and his memory. David and Betsey Hughes

So many thoughts and things I'd like to say, but nothing that was left unsaid; their is comfort in that.
Thank you for being my dad, my best friend, a great shipmate, and the best mentor a Chief could have.
