My Hospice career began 31 years ago at Midland Hospice in Topeka sharing an office with Steve. Little did I know the impact he would have on my life. So much of what I learned about caring for Hospice patients and families came from conversations with Steve and witnessing his interactions with families. The loving, compassionate care he provided to people at the end of life has never been forgotten. When I left 28 years ago, I took those memories and that knowledge with me. I see him every day in the photo above my desk and often reference him in presentations and talks with nursing and social work students. Steve was my officemate, Hospice team member, mentor and most importantly my friend. The world is a little smaller and a little darker without his presence. Always in my heart...Myrna Jordan

Steve was my dad's hospice nurse at Midland Hospice in Topeka. During my dad's illness, Steve treated with dignity and respect. My family thought of Steve as family even after my father's passing. Steve cared about his patients and their families during a difficult time. I just found out about Steve this evening, from his former coworker. Steve made an impact on a lot of people with his sense of humor and caring personality. Steve was one of kind. My thoughts are with his love ones during their time of grief.

I knew Steve through our shared work in hospice. As a social worker, I worked with him as we sought to comfort and assist those facing the end of life. He was kind, wise, capable, and always sought to do the best for those he took care of. While our paths diverged, and our contact was sporadic, Steve and I remained friends throughout. He was a blessing to this world. I will miss him. My sincere condolences to his family. He loved you all and spoke of you often.

Stephen gave so much to the CRB program of Shawnee County. We all benefited from his knowledge and generosity, espcially the children. Condolences to his family.
