STEPHEN HENRY SAUL, Ph.D. Scholar, Teacher, Humanist, died peacefully at home in Honolulu of AUL on August 29, 2007. He was recently retired as Associate Entomologist/Professor with special expertise in genetics from PEPS (Department of Plant Environmental Protection Services) in the College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources at the University of Hawaiìi at Manoa. Born in Brooklyn, New York in 1941, Stephen was a graduate of Stuyvesant High School as a National MeritFinalist with achievement awards in mathematics, chemistry, and physics, Brooklyn College, and the University of Rochester. Prior to moving to Honolulu, he was a Ford Foundation Fellow in Population Biology at the University of Chicago, and Visiting Assistant Professor and Post-Doctoral Researcher in the Vector Biology Laboratory at the University of Notre Dame. Stephen served as President of the Pacific Orchid Society of Hawaiìi, and led discussions with other devotees of classical music as the FEMLS. He is survived by wife, Alice Saul; mother, Lottie Saul of Honolulu, Hawaiìi; brothers, David N. Saul (Susan) of Wayland, Massachusetts, and Arthur D. Saul (MaryAnn) of Dix Hills, New York.
