Stephen Craig Summy, a long term resident of Houston (Seabrook), TX, and recently relocated to Charleston, SC, passed away unexpectedly on January 3rd at the age of 68. Stephen is survived by his loving wife of 4 years Mary (Butler) Summy, his brother Phil Harris (Mary Harris), sisters Sandra (Crawford) Summy, Kim Harmon (Don Harmon), Sheila Harris (Tom Priebe), niece Tiffany McKenna, nephew Robert Crawford, Jr. (Whitney Crawford), great niece Shelby Crawford, great nephew, Cameron Crawford, children Jennifer Torrey (Kevin Torrey), Alison Ferch (David Ferch) and beloved grandchildren, Jacob Jones, Katie and Maggie Torrey. Stephen is preceded in death by his parents Neysa Harris (mother), Bobby Jo Summy (father), and Deborah Hansen Sanders (wife). Steve was a graduate of Oklahoma Military Academy and the University of North Texas. He went on to become co-owner of the Abbey Inn, Dallas TX and later the Classic Café of Seabrook, TX. Steve retired from PRSI in April of 2015 after 34 years of service as an oil tank farm manager and had recently relocated with his wife Mary, to Charleston, SC to be closer to family members and friends in the area. He was a gifted photographer and left behind many beautiful photographs of his experiences and those around him. He was an avid reader and student of life. Each day he read many periodicals that were delivered 'old school' to his home and kept a close eye on the stock market. He was a kind, loving, and generous man whose most valued 'possessions' were his family and friends. Steve and his beautiful smile will be deeply missed by family, friends and all who knew him. A celebration of Steve's life will be held in Charleston on March 4. Details will be provided at a later date. Donations may be made to a charity of your choice in Stephen's honor.

The last time I saw Steve was July 1999 when our father passed away. Him and Sandi were very kind and helped me through a very sad time in my life. I never had the opportunity to meet Mary, but she must be a wonderful person for Steve to have chose her for his life partner. I am sad for our loss, but happy for his new beginning. Say "HI" to dad for me, ok Big Brother!

Hi Stephen,

We miss you. I love all the memories I have of you especially the ones with the girls. They love you so much. Remember "Dads and Donuts?" Katie and Maggie will never forget! You made sure to attend every Halloween parade, Christmas play and birthday party... always taking the most incredible pictures that we will cherish forever. We wish you didn't have to leave so soon but all of us feel so lucky for the time we spent together. Katie finds comfort that you are in heaven with Myia so I hope you hear her prays every night (mainly she wants you to walk Myia, ha). Kevin and I mourn the loss of your friendship and love but feel comfort knowing you are watching over us everyday. Mags...well you know Mags!

Love you forever,
Kevin, Jenny, Katie, Maggie and Gillie

I did not Steve but I know he made my friend Mary very happy. I could see the love between the two of you. Your eyes said it all. Thank God he was here for you to be together if only for a short time. Time will pass but the loss will not. My prayers are with you. I know what you are going through and I wish you peace.

Dearest Steve,, you were the best brother ever. There are just to many memories to put down in such a small space. They will forever remain in my heart ❤. You were my north and I will be turned around for a long time I pray you are happy with the rest of the family and all your burdens are precious ones now. I know we will see each other once again. Until then Tiffany and I will try to honor your life by being the best we can be, making the most of what we have and loving the hardest we can. Just like you taught us by example. Goodbye sweet Steve I'll love you forever and one day. Sandi

One of Steve's favorite movies is "The Terror of Tiny Town." When I first met him, he was the terror of Bid D, roaring around town in his BMW,under many a Lone Star moon. That was well over a decade before he saved his life by retiring to the tank farm. I'll have more to recall at the March Fourth memorial.

Steve,

You are my sweet loving man!!! Every morning when it was cold, you would get up first to turn up the thermostat so the house would be warm for me. You always told me you loved me, how nice I looked and how much you loved our family. You are my everything. You always made me laugh and taught me so much about people and life. Such a gentle soul. So kind, generous...perfect in everyway. I miss you so much. I know you are wrapped in our precious Lord's arms and are with your family and friends in heaven. I will join you some day so we can be together forever. I LOVE YOU!!
