Stephen Unger: dad, husband, grandfather, brother and farmer was born Feb. 19, 1950 and died peacefully in his home Dec. 31, 2022. He battled cancer for three years while being surrounded by family and friends.
At OSU he started dating his future wife, Sue Petrina, from Portland, Ore. They were married 50 years. Together they continued the family tradition of farming, gardening and canning in Cornelius, maintaining the century farm and creating a place of love and welcoming for the families of their four children, extended family, and community. He is survived by his wife, Sue Unger; his children and their spouses, Luke Unger and Christina Schulz, Ben Unger and Laura Simmons, Melissa Unger and Matt Fildes, and Katie and Chris Bolton; his grandchildren, Noah, Zeno, Henry, Pete, Huck and Zeke; and his seven siblings and their families.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2023, at St. Matthew's Church in Hillsboro, Ore.
