Stephen Lewis Wise age 61 died Saturday, July 20, 2013, at 6:08 AM. He had been battling Stage Three B Non Small Cell Lung Cancer since September 27, 2012. Treatment was going well when he developed a rare form of Early Onset Frontal Lobe Dementia which ultimately lead to his death.
Steve was born at Mansfield General Hospital on May 1, 1952. He lived in Shelby, Ohio from his birth until June 1, 1985, at which time he moved with his wife & children to Tiro, Ohio. He graduated from Shelby Senior High School & Pioneer Joint Vocational School in
1970. He served in the United States Navy from October 1970 until October 1974 as a cook on Nuclear submarines, Missile frigates & in Vietnam with the Seabees. He also was in the Naval Reserves for another 10 years. He worked at Tech Form in Shelby, Ohio from 1974 until their closing in 1990. He was currently employed at General Mills in Martel, Ohio.
Steve was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Shelby, Ohio. In his younger years he enjoyed bowling & golfing.
Steve & Allyn (Ross) Wise were married by Rev. S. T. Adkins on March 13, 1982, at the Tiro United Baptist Church located on State Route 39 in Tiro, Ohio.
Steve is survived by his wife Allyn (Ross) Wise. Two sons & six grandchildren. Alan Craig Gray & Alan's wife Angelia (Danielson) Gray & their children Tesla Jo, Heaven Tie'rra & Hunter Alan Gray all of New Washington, Ohio. Aron Clark Wise & his wife Sara (Garrison) Wise & their children Taylor Lyanne, Alivia Autumn & Aron Clark Wise, Jr. all of Crestline, Ohio.
Steve is also survived by one brother Damon Eugene Wise of Mansfield, Ohio. One sister Ellen (Wise) Connelly & her husband Jon Connelly of Shelby, Ohio. Two nieces Susan (Connelly) McClain & Susan's husband Jeff & their children twins William & James all of Mansfield, Ohio. Jennifer (Connelly) Taylor & her children Eric, Caleb & James Robinson & James's wife Katie (Stephenson) Robinson & their son Aiden all of Shelby, Ohio. One nephew Benjamin Allen Connelly of Shelby, Ohio.
He is also survived by his father-in-law Howard Holman Ross of Shelby, Ohio. Two sisters-in-law. Cindy (Ross) Robertson & her husband Gary of Gahanna, Ohio & their two daughters Shawn (Robertson) Urban & her husband Tom & their two sons Jason & Caiden Urban all of Gahanna, Ohio & Danielle (Robertson) Fabing & her husband Kyle & their two daughters & one son Makenzie & twins Morgan & Jaxson all of Gahanna, Ohio. Sheryl (Ross) Pryor & her husband Mike & their two sons Trevor & Toby Pryor all of Bellville, Ohio. One brother-in-law Alan Craig Ross & his wife Joy (Garverick) Ross of Shelby, Ohio & their two children Kevin Scott Ross of Columbus, Ohio & Laura Ann Ross of Shelby, Ohio.
Steve was preceded in death by His Great Nephew Benjamin "Baby Ben" Alvin Jon Robinson in 1992. His Father Robert Eugene Wise in 1995. His Beloved Daughter Sheri Lynn Wise in 2000. His Precious Granddaughter Amelia Claire Wise in 2005. His Mother-in-law ZulaBelle (Zooty) Ross in 2006 & His Mother Rosemary Marie (Eller) Wise in 2007.
Allyn would like to thank her cousin Margaret (Viers) Weaver for being the best MedCentral Home Hospice Nurse Steve could have asked for.
The family would like to thank the staff of The Ohio Veteran's Home & Stein Hospice in Sandusky, Ohio for their care & kindness during Steve's final days.
Steve chose to donate his body to the Cleveland Clinic Body Donation Program.
A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, August 11, 2013, at 2:00 PM at the First Lutheran Church at 33 Broadway In Shelby, Ohio. Pastor Carol Kilgore will officiate.
In honor of Steve being a die hard Browns fan the theme of the Memorial Service will be The Cleveland Browns (brown & orange). Please feel free to dress accordingly.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Allyn Wise to help with expenses incurred during Steve's illness. Memorial contributions may be dropped off at Barkdull Funeral Home at 33 N. Gamble, Shelby, Ohio or mailed to the Funeral Home at PO Box 644, Shelby, Ohio 44887-1226. Or if you wish you may bring them to the Church at the time of the Memorial Service.
