Stephen Glenn Worden

September 15, 1954 - March 9th, 2023

Steve was born in the small and beautiful farming town of Exeter, CA on September 15th, 1954 to Ron and Barbara Worden. A few years after the arrival of his younger sister, Susan, the family moved to the Sacramento area, followed by Burlingame and San Mateo, where he graduated from Aragon High School in 1972. Steve grew up in a small, but very loving and close-knit family. After attending the College of San Mateo, Steve moved to Arcata where he attended and graduated from Humbolt State University with a degree in Forestry. While at Humbolt, Steve enjoyed lots of activities, when not studying! He loved to hike in the redwoods and along the beaches, and to swim in the S. Fork of the Trinity River. After graduation in 1978, Steve made his way to Idaho to seek employment in the gorgeous forests of the central Idaho mountains. He worked in Grangeville and McCall. He loved living and working in Idaho and made many wonderful friends there. Unfortunately, year round, full time employment with the Forest Service was scarce, so Steve made the decision to pursue another career. It was then that he returned to California and began his studies in computer science. After receiving his degree, he began working for A. Levy and J. Zentner company. He later worked at the Sacramento Municipal Utilities District, and eventually branched out on his own, contracting his IT services. During this time, Steve made many of his longtime Sacramento friends at the Rubicon, a wonderful "Cheers" like pub that he frequented after work and a good game or two of basketball.

Steve was a wonderful human being, really one of a kind! He loved his friends like they were family and had more of them than one might think possible. He had your back, and wanted you to succeed, personally, as well as in business. Steve truly loved East Sacramento and his people there. His family may have had to beg him to come bless them with his presence in Idaho! Even though he missed Idaho, he definitely had fomo (the fear of missing out) on local Sactown events, especially music with friends and sporting events. Steve's love for music ran deep to his core and he was an ultimate Deadhead. He went to as many Dead concerts as he possibly could, after attending his first one at the age of 16 or 17. He enjoyed lots of different genres, as well, and especially loved attending the Strawberry Music Festival. Many more friends were made while camping and playing there, every year on Memorial weekend.

Steve was a very passionate person. He loved his family, friends, Australian Shepherds, live music, the Sacramento Kings, the San Francisco Giants, fine wine, and good IPA! He did not tolerate social injustices and was firm in his political beliefs. The environment and human rights issues were extremely important to him. He felt very fortunate for what life had given him, and often paid it forward to others. He was a real philanthropist. Steve was loved by many and has left a big hole in many hearts. He left us way to soon and will be missed beyond words. Let us always remember his kind heart and do our best to always be kind to others in this often unkind world. Pay it forward whenever and as often as possible.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Ron and Barbara and his loving partner, Victoria.

Steve left behind his sister, Susan, brother-in-law, Phil, nephew Andy, niece Sophia and stepdaughter, Georgia and her partner, Mario. He also left behind cousins in California, Nevada and Georgia.

If you might desire to make a donation on Steve's behalf, his charities of choice were: Doctors Without Borders, Amnesty International, The Nature Conservancy, Southern Poverty Law Center and Save the Children.

Steve and I were classmates at Aragon and would be seated together as my name was Winters . Occasionally we would walk home together since I lived one street up from him. He would stay for swim practice and I would stay for play practice. I have to admit that I had a crush on Steve ,as I´m sure others did. His tall lean body was perfect for swimming.
After HS we did not stay in touch, so reading his obit was quite a shock. I am happy to learn that he had a fulfilling life and was loved by many.
