Sterling Bond Obituary
Sterling Bond through the years was also affectionately known as Lilbit, Miss B, Moma B, Grandma Bond, and Grandma B. During her early years she attended Jefferson High School and Lucy Addison. Ms. Bond was one of the first to be employed at Northwest Child Development Center. She went on to graduate from VA. Western Community College as a Certified Nurse Assistant. Within her 30 year career she worked at Camelot, Home Health, Community Hospital (now Carilion), Physicians to Children, Adult Care Center and retired from Lewis Gale Medical Center. Sterling loved and enjoyed taking care of patients, family and friends, traveling, going out to eat, cooking, shopping and her dogs M&M and Lady K.
Those left to cherish her memories are children: Rodney Bond, Felix Bond, Aurora Latrice Bond Henderson (Melvin Henderson), Grandchildren: LaShay Howell, Jalil Holmes, Jazlynn Henderson, Maurice Green, Melvin Henderson Jr, Miles Henderson, Niece: Chelle, Great Niece & Nephew Kenna & Ian Baskerville, Siblings: Renee “Mickey” Henderson (Thomas), Dorothy Gates, Ted & Eugene “Poo” Lamar (Betty), and host of other nieces, nephews, & cousins. Special devoted friends & family are Katina, Kierra, AJ Gilbert, Helena Davis, Teresa Hogan, David Stokes, Frances Burnette, Joyce Shepherd, Lisa Alley and Henderson Family. Devoted medical team Dr. Nobbee, Dr. Jones, Dr. Salem, Richfield Roanoke and Good Samaritan Hospice.
A funeral service will be held 12 noon, Saturday, April 22, 2023 at Serenity. Friends may visit at Serenity on Friday, April 21, 2023 from 2-5PM.

Sending prayers to the family, and to her dear friend/ neighbor Katina. Ms. Bond was a regular customer at Valley Apothecary Pharmacy at Lewis Gale and it was a pleasure to know here for many years. No more suffering Ms. Bond, I will cherish the memories we share.

Family of Beloved Sterling
With a heavy heart, I extend my condolences and prayers for your loss. As I truly believe, Earth has no sorrow that Heaven cannot Heal.
What a privilege to have known such a beautiful soul. I met Sterling in the early 90’s. Always a sweetheart with an infectious smile; who too had an amazing sense of humor!
My fondest memory of her is when I gave birth to my son in 1994. She took very good care of me & our baby (as she called him) as she checked in on us every day while we were there. (Community Hospital) Even after our release, she would frequently come by to visit us. Our baby is now 28. She was a Angel then as God has definitely received one.
