Sterling Roberts Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 29, 2025.
Sterling C. Roberts, aged 76, of Worthington, OH, passed away on January 11,

2025. Born on June 17, 1948, Sterling was known for his exceptional sense of

humor and innate ability to fix anything. His knowledge of cars and

mechanics was unparalleled, making him the go-to person for advice and

help in these areas.

Sterling graduated from Malabar High School in Mansfield, OH, and

continued his education at Mansfield School of Technology where he earned

an Associate's Degree. He furthered his studies at Akron University, achieving

a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1975. Professionally, Sterling owned Associated

Photographic Services and worked as a photographer for the Ohio

Department of Education. Later, he served as a Special Projects Coordinator

at the University of Cincinnati, where his passion for photography greatly

contributed to his success.

Beyond his professional life, Sterling was a devoted family man, survived by

his wife, Linda Gurney Roberts, sons Sterling M. Roberts (Sheri Brunton

Roberts) and Timothy S. Roberts (Tori Taylor Roberts), and grandchildren

Sterling K. (SKai), Isabella, and Kallan Roberts. He also leaves behind his sister,

Kathryn R. Deyerle (Thomas Deyerle), and niece, Sarah N. Deyerle. Sterling

was preceded in death by his parents, Beverly Nash Roberts and Sterling L.

Roberts.

Sterling's hobbies included a lifelong passion for cars and photography,

which not only brought joy to his life but also allowed him to connect with

others who shared his interests.

A Celebration of Life will be held in his honor at the Clintonville Woman's

Club, 3951 N High St, Columbus, OH 43214, on March 22, 2025, from 1:00-

4:00pm. This gathering will provide an opportunity for friends, family, and

acquaintances to come together and remember Sterling, a man who touched

many lives with his kindness, humor, and expertise.

I was in high school with Sterling. He was a wonderful guy and loads of fun. I will always remember his Corvair and how much he loved it. We touched base after the 50th high school reunion before I flew back home. We met at the airport in Columbus and he talked about his wonderful family and how proud he was of them all.
My condolences to the family and to all the people that knew and loved him

Sterling dated my older Sister for a few years when they were both in high school. He was like a big brother and my first mentor.

Sterling introduced me to cool cars (I always loved a ride in the red Jeep Wagoner), the world of short wave radios, and photography - always kindly sharing his knowledge with a sense of humor and unique point of view.

We stayed in touch through my college years. It was around that time that I decided to be a commercial photographer. I would continue to call him over the years with the occasional photography question.

I had the good fortune of seeing Sterling about three years ago when we spent a few hours catching up. It was a pleasure listening to his great stories and ever quick wit.

I am grateful to Sterling for influencing the course of my life. He will be missed and always remembered.

Sterling was a neighbor and friend of our family in Worthington for many, many years. His kindness, helpfulness and, yes, sense of humor were unparalleled! He and his wife, Linda, embodied the true meaning of "looking out for your neighbor". He will be missed by many.

Sending our prayers and sympathy to Sterling“s family and loved ones,
