Sterling Roberts

Sterling Raymond "Ray" Roberts, affectionately known as "Slick," passed away on December 6, 2025, in Newnan, Georgia. Born on June 8, 1947, in College Park, Georgia, he was the cherished son of Marvin and Marie Roberts.

From an early age, Ray shared a special bond with his father through their mutual love of building race cars and street rods. This passion led to a lifelong reputation for speed and craftsmanship-especially remembered in his prized 1955 Chevy. Local lore recalls police officers placing bets on Ray's races, confident in his inevitable win.

Ray proudly served his country during the Vietnam War while stationed in Korea. Upon returning home, he married Brenda Whitehead, beginning a devoted partnership that lasted 56 years. Together they built a life grounded in love and mutual respect.

A hardworking and entrepreneurial spirit guided Ray through a long and successful career with Avis Rent-A-Car. His playful smart-aleck nature was balanced by a deep generosity and unwavering commitment to family. He had a way of drawing people to him wherever he went.

In later years, Ray made his home in Sharpsburg, Georgia, alongside Brenda and their beloved pug, Burt. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Roberts, and their son, Sterling Rodney Roberts.

Ray will be remembered for his quick wit, big heart, loyalty, and the unforgettable energy he brought into every room. His legacy lives on through the laughter and stories shared by those fortunate enough to know him.
