My first memory of Steve, was when I was listening to Nirvana, I was trying to recreate the tone of Kurt's guitar, and I just couldn't, it was so different and special then any other tone, and I wanted to learn how it was created, I eventually searched it up and now I know who this legend is. Thanks Steve.

When Steve was a freshman at Northwestern, I was a senior... and I pretty much "adopted" him and his roommate Loren. I loved giving Steve haircuts. But more importantly, the two of us frequented the downtown Chicago music scene when all our contemporaries were in button downs, fair isle sweaters and preppy boat shoes. A fabulous iconoclast even in his late teens -his impact on the arts, and artists and those of us who adored him even just for moments in our life -- will last a lifetime. Love to his family, friends and those who will be inspired beyond.
