93, entered into eternal rest October 18, 2016 with his loved ones by his side. He was born in West Virginia and then resided in Cleveland, OH until he relocated to Florida in 1983 to be near his family. A proud, decorated WWII Marine Veteran who served in the Pacific as a radio gunner on a TBF bomber, and a retired Cleveland policeman/detective for 29 years, he is survived by his only daughter, Donna and her husband Jim Coughlin; grandson, Jimmy; granddaughter, Jenny and her husband, Mike Zalampas and great-granddaughter, Kaylee. He was a lifetime member of the Spring Hill Marine Detachment before moving to Palm Harbor. He loved to read daily about WWII and the Marines, and enjoyed his weekly poker games with friends. He was the catalyst in establishing Norton's Sports Bar & Grill for his family in 1991 and excelled in public relations for the business. A Memorial Service will be held at Curlew Hills Funeral Home in Palm Harbor Wednesday, November 2 at 11 am followed by a gathering at Norton's in Dunedin. He will be laid to rest at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell with his late wife, Lois, at a later date. "Grampa Steve" will be missed tremendously. No flowers please.
