I met Steve in college and have so many great memories spending time with him during that period-I always knew he was special and would go far in life-I wished to visit him again but it never materialized-just found out today he had passed-I am so sad I never had that last visit -love you so much Steve-one day I know we will cross paths again...

We are so saddened to hear about the passing of Steve. He was a kind and gentle soul and a great friend to me and my son. He had so much to live for and I am in disbelief that he suddenly passed. Rest in Peace Steve. We will meet again someday. Best, Elle and Cyrus

We were all quite devastated to learn of Steve´s passing. It´s hard to imagine someone who leaves such a legacy being no longer with us on this earth. Steve and I sat next to each other in homeroom for three years in school in Flint and we´re fast friends from day one. He was a small guy with a big personality, huge heart, and winning smile. I ended up tutoring him through high school and was not only privy to lots of grand ideas and dreams, but to his incredible sense of humor. We did a lot of laughing and, at the same time, I learned so much from him. He sent me an original typed manuscript of what was to eventually become his memoir, Homeboy, and I remember being overwhelmed at the trajectory of his path in life. It is so heartwarming to read all the tributes to such an incredible man and dear friend. He will be missed, but leaves behind bushels of wonderful memories. We were all blessed to have known him.
My heart goes out to Jack and his family. See you down the road again one day, Steve!

When I first joined the NFTE staff in 2000, I went to a conference with Steve. He was the keynote speaker. While I had heard Steve´s story about how he first started NFTE, listening to him present at this conference was a whole new awakening to me about Steve´s passion for the work he was doing with low income youth and just how important it was.

Steve was so genuine and a truly funny person......a treasure to all who knew him.

I collaborated with Steve for many years on many books and other projects for NFTE. He was unfailingly sweet, kind, humble and devoted to NFTE's mission and every student he had ever taught. He was the definition of a good person. I will miss him very much. These are some of my favorite photos of Steve. The third is the one I took in Jersey City the day we officially completed our manuscript for his beautiful memoir, Goodbye Homeboy: How My Students Drove Me Crazy & Inspired a Movement. Rest In Power, Steve, you did good.

Steve, you will be forever missed, but your legacy and memory will live forever in us.

So thankful to have known you for the past 22 years, starting from my first NFTE BizCamp at Stanford. I´m privileged to have had you as a mentor, coach, cheerleader and friend for a large part of my life. I will be forever thankful for you! May you rest in peace

When I started out as "just" a Program Associate in Miami, I figured Steve had no idea who I was. When I met him the first time in New York for the competition, he not only knew who I was but mentioned something I'd said in a call that had specifically impressed him. That attention and servant leadership made me feel so special and has forever inspired me to try to do the same.

I remember at my wedding in 1995 you and Mike Caslin were there and during the hora I saw you and saluted you Steve. You must have told me 100 times that you loved that moment. You deserved it Steve! I salute you today as well. A legend, a friend, funny, quirky, missed!

I´m deeply saddened by the news of Steve Mariotti´s passing. His legacy is truly remarkable. Over the past few years, I´ve had the privilege of working closely with Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) as a volunteer mentor and advisor, and during that time, I´ve come to know many members of the team.

Steve´s influence is everywhere, and the impact he created is undeniable. The organization he founded is in exceptionally capable hands, and his vision continues to inspire so many of us.

I had always hoped to meet Steve one day, as his origin story was what motivated me to transition into coaching youth entrepreneurship. Sadly, that opportunity won´t come. My thoughts and deepest sympathies are with his family during this difficult time.
