Steven Borchert Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 8, 2019.
Steven James Borchert, formerly of Knoxville, Iowa, Newton, Iowa and Joliet, Illinois, passed away January 6, 2019, after a year-long battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his family at his home in Pasadena, Texas. He was born May 20, 1947 in Knoxville to Leland and Norma Borchert. He graduated from Newton High School in 1965.

He served his country in Vietnam as a field medic and was awarded two Bronze Stars during his time there. He was married 25 years to Linda Dammeier and blessed with four boys: Jeffery, James, Jason and Jeremy.

Steve was employed by Northern Petrochemical in Morris, IL, later transferring to Equistar in Pasadena, TX in 1989, where he lived the rest of life.

Steve enjoyed visiting his family in Iowa and Minnesota and traveling with friends from time to time. As an avid John Wayne fan, he enjoyed visiting Winterset, Iowa with his siblings to see John Wayne's birthplace and touring the countryside of covered bridges. But he especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren - near and far. He was never without a story involving his grandchildren.

Steve is survived by his four children Jeffery, James (Erin), Jason (Jennifer), and Jeremy, 11 grandchildren Ethan, Carson, Desiree, Dylan, Bryce, Riley, Ashton, Cainen, Aaron, Hendrix and Aria, his 3 siblings Gary Borchert, Elizabeth (Mike) Stout, and Deborah Borchert, Mother-in-law Carole Gattenby, Sister-in-law Kim (Joe) McKnight, as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and one great-nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents and Linda Borchert.

The funeral service is scheduled for 10:00am, Friday, January 18, 2019, at Grandview Funeral Home, 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, Texas 77505.
