Funeral service will be held Saturday, 10 a.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5 to 8 p.m. TODAY at the funeral home. Donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Association. (Anthony Funeral Homes, 330-724-1281, www.anthonyfh.com)

Steve was in my Kindergarten class at Firestone Park. At that time I always thought he was such a nice boy with something called Diabetes. I always remembered him. Last summer before my son was to begin Kindergarten he was diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes. I again thought of Steve. 30+ years later. This year as I collect donations and walk for JDRF this fall, I will not only be doing it in hopes of finding a cure for my son but in honor of Steve. He will be in my thoughts and heart that day.

Steve had such a big heart for Christmas, little kids and his family. I'm so glad Austin spent the time he did with Uncle Steve. Those two were always up to something either laughing nonstop in restaurant, using Steves fart app. at trick or treat at moms house. He was also Austins Godfather, who set such a great example on living and how to treat others. Steve was an amazing brother who always allowed me to tag a long in my younger years. We would always b.s. about our home town teams over a few miller lites. Steve Austin and I love you and will cherish all the great times we had together. I have known Steve since 2002, when he worked for our competition at Summa. When he came to work with us in 2006, it was a real pleasure. Steve and I liked to play pranks on each other, nothing mean, but good clean fun. One prank that Steve and I both loved was messing with each others' chairs as our desks were by each other. I can't tell you how many times Steve and I would come into work the next day, or leave for a half hour or something, and come back to fall to the floor because the chair was so low to the ground, or we were suspended in air because the chair was so high up. It was a great time with Steve. God's speed my colleague, my friend.

I wish I could express how deeply Steven touched the lives of so many people. He has an amazing way of bringing peace to the hearts of those so ill. His caring and compassion that was given to each of his patients was so uplifting.
