Dear Ruth and family, Lee, Barb and family,
Just a note to say I have thought about all of you often in the last year and still find it hard to believe Steve is no longer here. Hoping your many wonderful memories make the loss easier to bear. May God bless you all with His peace.

Steve is one of those rare individuals who is technically off the charts yet humble enough to talk to folks. Professionally, I am glad I was able to know him. His passing away is a real loss to engineering society, we have lost a great mentor and teacher.

Dear Ruth, Cassie, Hannah, Michael, Lee, Barbara, Ian and Nathan,
My heart is heavy as I write to send you my condolences. I just heard of Steve's unexpected passing from this life to life eternal. Steve was a treasured childhood friend. We graduated from CHS and went to MTU together. It was a pleasure to meet you last year, Ruth, at the All School Reunion Picnic. My prayers will be with all of you as you journey through this difficult time in your lives. I pray that God wrap his loving arms of comfort around you now and give you peace and continued blessings of all wonderful memories that you have shared with your beloved Steven.

I am so sorry I just learned of Steve's passing. Steve was one of my favorite Green Bay Strikers members; he always had a smile on his face and always asked if my girls were playing, refereeing or if I was coaching. Thank you for giving me the confidence to coach; you will be greatly missed. Mrs. Daavettila and family, I am so sorry for your loss; our condolences to you all.

Although I didn't know Steve on a personal basis, it was an honor to serve with him on the Chassell Schools Foundation Board. His penchant for excellence in education, leadership and humor, contributed greatly in creative school improvement programs. Steve had a positive impact on everyone around him.

Please accept my deepest condolences for your loss. I met Steve several years ago through the YMCA Youth Sports Programs that I am involved in. It didn't take much to see he was a great mentor for the youngsters and a great role model for Michael and Hannah. May he rest in peace.

Our sincere sympathy is extended to the entire Daavettila family. We recently spent an enjoyable day with Steve removing logs from the lake lot. We talked and laughed, Steve took pictures and we laughed some more. He told us how he had spent every Christmas in Chassell since he was born and was so enthused about the new lake house. He has always remained a part of Chassell, he will be missed.

We are saddened to hear of Steven's passing. He and his family have been long time friends and we spent endless summer days at their place on the lake and exploring throughout our town. Our thoughts and prayers are with Lee and Steven's family. Steve leaves us with fond memories of our youth and will be remembered with a smile. He made everyone that grew up with him rightfully proud to have known him.

Lee, Ruth, Cassie, Hannah and Michael,
So shocked and sorry to hear of Steve's sudden passing. Although a year younger, Steve spent a lot of time hanging out with Lee and the rest of the "Class of 74" gang, (Paul, Jerry, Bill and myself). Steve was very accomplished but never quite mastered the art of getting smoothly through the theater ticket booth in our teenage years. (I'll leave it to Lee to explain)
My God grant you the comfort and strength you need during this difficult time. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
My heartfelt condolences,
Dave

Dear Ruth and family,
This comes as such a shock and I'm sure you are all just trying to process this yourselves. I graduated with Steve from Chassell and he was a very beloved member of our class. I was able to visit briefly with him over the years at chance meetings at the Strawberry Festival and he always kept his cheery outlook and friendly demeanor. It sounds like he made an impact in many lives during his lifetime and he will remain in countless memories as someone who made a positive difference in those lives. Please accept our heartfelt sympathy in this huge loss in your lives. He will be greatly missed but his memory will live on. God bless you during this difficult time.

We had the pleasure of meeting Steve at a dear friend's son's wedding in Palm Springs. Steve was with his camera and at first I thought he was a hired professional. So glad we had the opportunity to have met him and share some special time at a happy event. Our deepest condolences to Ruth & all the family. Our prayers are with you all. May you find peace in knowing his and that his love of life and family was well lived. Thank you Steve for all your community services and making this world a better place. ...you have earned your wings. God Bless your family and friends with peace and healing.
