Steve will always be remembered as the kindest, gentlest, most genuine person I have ever known. We are all better for knowing Steve, being able to spend time with him and see true goodness. He is an inspiration to all who knew him and we should strive to emulate some of his best qualities.
My heart felt sympathies go out to Margie and his entire family. Steve will be dearly missed.

Steve was the first person I met when I started working with the folks at Otsego County. He was so sincere, kind and genuine. He instantly made me feel welcome. I will miss his sense of humor and his smile. God bless his family. He was such a wonderful man.

I met Steve at a fun party in Cherry Valley. We had a lot of fun and laughs together there. He immediately embraced me as a new friend with brotherly kindness. Even though I had just met him that day he immediately became a good friend. You can see the kindness in his eyes and smile. He will always be in my heart as a true friend. God Bless him.........He will always be remembered as a fun and loving friend.........My prayers go out to Margie and Steve's family.........

I am so sad and my heart goes out to Margie and Steve's entire family. Steve was my supervisor at DSS and I remember sharing many a laugh with him to ease the day to day challenges of the job. His smile and easy going manner was a comfort. He was such a good person who really made others see the better parts of life. My thoughts and prayers are will his family.

Margie and family, you will be in my thoughts and prayers. There are not enough good words to describe Steve and what a wonderful man he was. I have many fond memories of him from work and how he at times made things easier for everyone. Margie, I remember him telling me how great you were. I will miss him very much.

I am so sad to hear of Steve's passing. Hugo & I, and Margie & Steve exchanged Christmas cards through the years since I moved back Downstate - exchanges of good wishes, ... I never knew that Steve was ill. As my supervisor at Otsego Cty Children's Services, he was the best. Steve gave me strength, confidence, & humor. He was the Richfield Springs Jogger. He was one of the most selfless, kindest person that I have ever met. I will always remember him. My heart goes out to you, Margie.

God Bless,

Victoria Leon

Steve,
You had an awesome soothing way about you that always calmed my soul and made me more able to cope with the many difficult days at DSS. The only time you ever got mad was when someone messed with your lunch. I will forever miss you and always remember how you brought the flowers to me at work, from Margie, when I was facing difficult days. We love you and will miss you.

Steve was a great friend, tremendous person and wonderful lover of life. There are not many people like him in the world today. He will be missed by many, many people, including myself. There is a piece of my life now gone, but knowing that he is now in a better place takes some of that pain away.

I will always have the memories of our football games in the snow, our softball games at Bond's field and our endless nights enjoying a cold brew. I am proud to have been able to call him my friend.

Dr.
Your friendship, humility, empathy, & levity will be a profound void. “We pretend to work – they pretend to pay us”! Be well comrade, you will be eternally remembered. Sincere condolence to Margie & family.

Steve was a gentleman and one of the kindest humans it has ever been my privilege to know. Every contact I have had with him for the past eleven years was pleasant and productive. He was a man of his word and without fail, every single time, he worked for what was best for the children. He helped more children than can be counted. I miss him already.

My sincere, heart felt sympathy to his family, friends and coworkers.

Steve was a true gentleman, in the old-fashioned sense of the word. I worked with him for 6 years, and shared many, many adventures that only caseworkers would understand. He genuinely cared about the people we tried to serve, but could also light anyone's day with his sense of the ridiculous. He, Margie and I with others would often gather and laugh at the silly things one or the other of us had done or said that day, when trying to accomplish our work. He was a truly great man,and he will be missed. We loved you, Steve

I didn't know Steve really well, but while I was working at DSS as a Motor Vehicle Operator, and a Parent Aide I do remember he always had a smile on his face, and would say "Hi, Melinda" with a BIG smile. Even though we never spoke to each other than when he would see me at DSS, he always acknowledged me in that way and he was that way with everyone. I do know that he has made a big difference in many peoples lives and he will be dearly missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family during this very difficult time.
