Family-Placed Death Notice

Mr. Steven Gregory Eichel, age 35, died after a brief illness Monday, June 23, 2003, at Piedmont Hospital. Steven, born in Indianapolis, Indiana on October 14, 1967, attended Holy Innocents, Lovett, and graduated from Riverwood High School. After graduating from George Washington University, he received his Law degree from University of Georgia in 1993. Steven was a member of Law Review and participated in the Mock Trial Team. He was in private practice for 10 years, and had passion and pride in his profession. He is survived by his parents, Dr. and Mrs. Ronald Eichel (Nanci); brother and sister in-law, Dr. and Mrs. David Eichel (Judy), sister and brother in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Howard (Allison), grandmother, Mrs. Florence Eichel, and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Steven was preceded in death by his mother, Mrs. Muriel Eichel, Macon, GA. Our beloved son had a wonderful kindness and a strong love and empathy for children, acting as a mentor and big brother for less fortunate children. Always with the warmest smile and hearty laugh, and a wonderful sense of humor. Steven was a loyal friend, and a very loving son. As a camp counselor at Camp Barney Medintz, he maintained relationships with many of his former campers. Funeral services to be held Wednesday, June 25, 10:30 a.m. at Temple Sinai (5645 Dupree Drive, Atlanta) with Rabbi Philip Kranz officiating. Burial will follow at Arlington Cemetery, 201 Mt. Vernon Highway. The family will receive friends Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings at the home of his parents, 3208 Andrews Drive, Atlanta.
