Steven Goodnight

Steven R. Goodnight, 48, of Illinois City, died Sunday, December 5, 2004, at his home after fighting a courageous battle with cancer.
Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Andalusia, Ill.
Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Milan, Ill., with a Christian wake service held at 7:30 p.m.
Visitation also will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorials may be made to his grandchildren's education fund or the Andalusia/ Illinois City Fire Depts.
Burial will be in the Reynolds Cemetery.
Steven was born June 22, 1956, in Rock Island, to Bill and Patricia (Schnell) Goodnight. He married Betsy DeKeyrel on March 6, 1976, in Illinois City.
Mr. Goodnight retired from construction in October 1999, then began farming which was his passion.
He was a member of the Local Labor Union 309, Rock Island.
Steven had volunteered as a firefighter with the Edgington and Andalusia Fire Protection District.
Mr. Goodnight enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved being outdoors.
Steven was most proud of a hard day's work and taking care of his family.
Survivors and (spouses) include his wife, Betsy; children, Andi (Brian) Mast, of Milan, and Ben (Luci) Goodnight, of Andalusia, Ill.; parents, Bill and Patricia, of Reynolds, Ill.; two grandchildren, Payton Mast and Ella Goodnight; two sisters, Debbie (Richard) Farnsworth, of Coal Valley, Ill., and Cathy (Pat) Fowler, of Reynolds; a brother, Jeff (Amy) Goodnight, of Reynolds; sister-in-law, Virginia Brade, of Illinois City; brothers-in-law, Dean (Mary) DeKeyrel, of Alexis, Ill., Jim (Marilyn) DeKeyrel, of Illinois City, Dan (Cathy) DeKeyrel, of Burlington, Iowa, and Joe (Roxanne) DeKeyrel, of Illinois City; and several nieces and nephews.
