Dr. Grimes was my favorite ER DR. He was very wise, kind, and caring. He always treated me with respect. When I told him I was leaving Bedford hospital and moving to Chicago he wrote me the best letter of recommendation. It made me tear up. I know I’m writing this over 2 years later but I was thinking about him today and how he was such a great Dr. May he Rest In Peace. Condolences to his wife and Children.

Dr. Grimes, you're still my favorite doctor of all times. I think of you often. I know you're at peace now which makes me feel ok. Everytime I hear or see a Harley I think of you and I know you're watching over us. Miss you Doc. Love, Bridgette "AKA" Gretchen

I went to high school and engineering school with Steve; He was one of the brightest, most interesting people I ever knew. We reconnected a few years back when my wife and I were passing through the Cleveland area; He and Paula met us for breakfast after he'd finished the night shift, and he gave me a copy of Death in Sturgis. I'm grateful for the time that I got to spend with Steve, and sorry that I didn't get to spend more. I really miss him. Hugs to Paula...

Dear Paula and family members of Dr. Grimes. You have my deepest sympathy and prayers.
I will remember Dr. Grimes as a caring , compassionate man who was an excellent physician in the ER, loved working with him and his calm demeanor. I will always remember him when I see a Harley or visit the Sturgis page. My heart goes out to all of you. I want you to also know Paula, that I finally got my Tatoo. I plan on remembering him in a memorial mass at MaryMount Hospital chapel. God Bless all of you and may Steve now be resting in peace.

When I was a new Paramedic years ago, I shared with Doctor Grimes that I was having trouble distinguishing certain lung sounds. Instead of being condescending and nasty like many uptight E.R docs can be, he helped explain some things to me and even understood that it is difficult in a running ambulance. Then next time I saw him, he gave me an electronic stethoscope. I was so touched by that. It was comforting to to know some docs understand the struggle. I did not ride a motorcycle at the time and thought it was awesome that he did. For the last 10 years I have been working at an ambulance service that does not frequent Bedford Hospital and 4 years ago, I learned how to ride and was really looking forward to seeing Dr. Grimes to tell him the happy news and invite him on a charity run that I am heavily involved in. I no longer have that chance but on this run, he will be with us in spirit. Rest easy Doc and wind brother. Prayers for all family and friends.
