Oh Kent,,

Even though it's been two years since your passing, you're still so fondly thought of, and missed. Somehow, I didn't sign your guest book here, and and remedying that now.

I went to High School with Kent, and was lucky enough to share his sense of humor, the love of a prank joke, and cruises around Shelby in his classic car, the Dodge Coronet affectionately known as Cora. Oh the pranks we pulled.

I never knew of all of Kent's later accomplishments in life, but reading more about him, I'm not the least bit surprised by them. He was clearly highly intelligent, compassionate and caring beyond description. That's evidenced here by the fond postings of his friends, colleagues and students.

I was lucky enough to reconnect with Kent in the Spring of 2015 in Chapel Hill. He was hosting some of his MBA students at a fund raiser at the Crunkleton on Franklin Street. He invited me to join them, and him in that evening of laughter and fine spirits. What a privilege it turned out to be to see how he had continued influencing young lives in such a positive way.

Kent, you'll be forever missed, but eternally remembered in the most fond way. Your light shined so brightly, but now shines brightest and for all time. I pray I see you again on the other side my dear friend. God bless you and your family still.

I had the privilege to work with Kent at GSK. He would passionately talk about Shelby, his high school, his family, and going home to spend time with his mother.

He was a source of energy for many colleagues and was highly respected by senior leaders. He spearheaded many amazing legacies at GSK, including a highly successful leadership development program. What an impact on many young professionals. He inspired me to pitch an idea for a venture fund (of course we ended up winning as everything he touched turned to gold). Yet he was extraordinarily humble. I never knew of his NCSU scholarship, other degrees, and other successes; but at the end of the day for Kent it always came down to Putting other people first.

I am deeply saddened to hear that Kent is no longer with us. My thoughts and prayers go out to his mother. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help out the Harrill family during this time. Thank you for setting up this site to connect.

I was very sad to learn that kent passed away. I am still stunned. Kent was my dear friend, my fraternity big brother, but most importantly, a fantastic person.

Kent lived a values based life. He was always more than willing to help anyone. He was always smiling, always looking for the good in a situation, always looking for the good in people. There was truly something special about Kent.

Kent - I love you brother! I will miss you greatly.

Kent is my Fraternity brother who enriched us while we were in college and I was very happy to have seen him again in the past few years. He was always over the top with exuberance and added wonderfully to every situation he was in. He is remembered and missed. Thank you for the honor of knowing him.

I knew Kent from Cornell MBA. What a great guy! Warm, kind to everyone, cheerful. He was smart and funny, and multi-talented.

We hung out a lot during that time. Time spent with Kent was NEVER dull. It was life at a heady pace, full of odd twists and turns. When the normal course was straight ahead, Kent was more likely to snap a hard left, just to see what revelations that path offered. Kent always chose "interesting" over "easy". If you were near him, you benefited from many colorful experiences you would have otherwise missed.

Nobody interacted with Kent without some kind of impact. And that shows in the testimonials here.

In short. Life without Kent is less colorful than life with him. I've missed him since Cornell, and I'm gonna miss him more now.

Kent,
I am still in shock over the news of your passing, as are so many others from your UNC and GSK families. When I first met you in the context of GSK corporate recruiting, it surprised me how you would so genuinely refer to the folks you had recruited as your friends. Your first allegiance may have been to NC State, but we were fortunate enough to recruit your kind, beautiful soul into the Tarheel family for two wonderful years. I will remember you as an open minded people lover who was always seeking to collect new challenges, experiences and friendships. I would not be where I am today without your support. With much love, but a heavy heart, thank you for your friendship.

Kent was a fun "brother" and a good friend and he will be greatly missed by his Alpha Sig brothers and li'l sisters.

August 2, 2016

I was one of Kent's classmates at Shelby high school and we were Facebook friends. Kent always wished me a Happy Birthday! I'm stunned and incredibly saddened to hear of Kent's death -- it seems surreal to say that word. Kent was such an incredible person and I was not even aware of many of his incredible accomplishments! My heart goes out to his family and I'm praying for their hearts to find peace in the wake of this tragedy.
