Steven Hoegh Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 3, 2023.
Steven Robert Hoegh, of Pasco, Washington, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2023, with family by his side. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, he will be missed by all who knew him. An avid "car guy," Steve could often be found working on one of his numerous projects or researching for his next one. Steve loved watching sports, including the Seahawks, the Mariners, and any level of soccer, and exploring the Northwest in his travel trailer.

Steven was born September 22, 1948, in Spokane, Washington to Robert & Zennia Hoegh. He spent part of his early childhood there before moving to Pasco, Washington, where he graduated from Pasco High in 1966. He then attended CBC for two years before he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1969. In the Air Force, he served as a Radio Intercept Analysis Specialist in Japan and the Philippines until 1972. After leaving the Air Force, Steve attended Eastern Washington State College, where he earned his Bachelor's degree.

In 1972, Steve met Jeena Michelson, and they would marry in October 1975. Steve and Jeena traveled for work for a few years, living in Idaho, Arkansas, and Michigan, before returning to Pasco to live in 1984. During their time away, they had their children, Justin and Stephanie. Steve was very active in his kids' lives, devoting much of his time to coaching and traveling for their sports teams while they were growing up.

Steve worked in the nuclear field for over 30 years, finishing his career at Energy Northwest as a maintenance scheduler, and retiring in 2014. In retirement, Steve enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, camping with his family, traveling to attend reunions of Unit 6918 Security Squadron at Hakata Administration Annex, Pacific Air Forces, Hakata, Japan, and spending time with his lifelong friends Marvin & Wanda McCollom, Steve & Patti Boothe, and Wayne & Joann Callaway.

Steve had a passion for old Chevrolet's his whole life. He kept and restored his first car, a 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air Nomad. Over the years, he had many different classic cars and enjoyed traveling in them to parades and car shows all over the Northwest and in 2015, he and Jeena traveled across the country via Route 66 in their Corvette.

Steve is survived by his wife of 47 years, Jeena, children Justin (Jennifer) Hoegh and Stephanie (David) Haug, grandchildren Samantha, Olivia, and Henrik, sisters Sandi Mundell and Terri (Mark) Stiltz and his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Bob and Zennia Hoegh, and nephew SSG Matthew Stiltz.

A service will be held at Mueller's Tri-City Funeral Home, 1401 S Union Street, Kennewick, Washington, on September 16th, 2023, at 1pm with a reception gathering to follow at 10121 Willow Way, Pasco, WA 99301. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to your favorite local charity.
