Steven Carlisle Holder

Asheville - Steven Carlisle "Steve" Holder, 62, went to be with the Lord on Friday March 13, 2015. Steve was born November 1, 1952 in Greensboro NC , son of the late Norman Carlisle Holder and Alice Elizabeth Ward Holder.

In high school, Steve played football and later attended Guilford College and UNC-Greensboro. He played guitar and enjoyed many genres of music. He was an expert baker and his cooking skills were chef quality.

By trade, Steve was a master carpenter and well versed in the knowledge of building and maintaining homes and property.

He was a kind and generous soul, taking care of his elderly father, as well as his elderly in-laws and other neighbors. Steve was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church and a Vestry member.

Surviving are his wife of 38 years, Jennifer Frank Holder; sons, Steven Clark Holder and Samuel Grey Holder; brothers, Pastor Jack R. Jones (Iglesia Comunidad Cristiana) of Woodstock GA, Donald W. Jones of Wilmington NC; sisters, Deborah Statton of Mechanicsville VA, Karen Patterson of Greensboro NC, Gina Ilderton of Pineville SC; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Saturday March 21, 2015, 2:00 PM at St. Mary's Episcopal Church Asheville NC followed immediately by the burial of the ashes at St. Mary's Columbarium. The family will receive friends immediately following the services at the church reception hall.
