Steven Houser Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 1, 2025.
Jacksonville - Steven Randolph "Randy" Houser, 77, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away on Thursday, July 24, 2025.

Born November 14, 1947, in Jacksonville to Floyd Myers Houser III and Helen Ruth Houser (née Widner), Randy was a lifelong resident of the city he deeply loved. He graduated from Landon High School in 1965, where he played varsity football, and went on to serve honorably in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1970, stationed in Berlin.

In 1972, Randy married his beloved wife, Linda (née Wells), beginning a 52-year partnership marked by devotion and joy. Together they raised two sons, Ryan and Blake, and later welcomed four cherished grandchildren.

Randy co-founded Wells Legal Supply, Inc. in 1982 with his father-in-law, Johnnie O. Wells. In 1997, the firm merged with H. & W.B. Drew Company, forming Wells & Drew. Today, the company remains family-run by Ryan and Blake.

Randy was a loyal Jaguars season ticket holder and passionate Gators fan. He and Linda shared a love of travel, visiting destinations across the U.S. and abroad.

He is survived by his wife, Linda; sons Ryan (Katie) and Blake (Danielle); grandchildren Ben, Everly, Wells, and Cleopatra; siblings Floyd (Susan), Phillip (Lu Ann), Jeanne (Ron), Rebecca (Edmund), Jeffrey (Barbara), and Robert (Kathryn); and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Known for his warmth, humor, and gentle spirit, Randy brought joy and comfort to all who knew him. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.

A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, August 8, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Chapel, 4801 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32207.
