Steven Dale Kennedy ABINGDON, Va. Steven Dale Kennedy, 59 years of age, passed away Saturday, March 10, 2012, at Johnson City Medical Center, Johnson City, Tenn. Born in Welch, W.Va., he was the son of the late Isiah and Flora Vance Kennedy. He was also preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Hodges. Mr. Kennedy was a disabled coal miner and also moved mobile homes. He is survived by his wife, Ruby Cook Kennedy; two sons, Steven and Karen Kennedy and Jason and Heather Kennedy; two grandsons, Lee and Luke; two granddaughters, Kayla and Sara; six sisters, Etta Reynolds of Princeton, W.Va., Joann and Milton Ward of Belfast, Va., Carol and Dennis Edwards of Jefferson City, Tenn., Debbie and Ernie Vance, Pineville, W.Va., Kathy and Butch Acord, Beckley, W.Va.; Shirley and Doug Acord of Mullens, W.Va.; four brothers, Elmer and Loretta Kennedy of Troutman, N.C., Charlie Kennedy, Livingston, Texas, Kenny and Jill Hodges of Pineville, and Benny Hodges of Mullens W.Va. He was preceded in death by six brothers Fred Kennedy, Oliver Kennedy, Carl Kennedy, Clarence Kennedy, Ray Hodges and Roger Kennedy. Funeral services for Steven Dale Kennedy will be conducted Thursday, March 15, 2012 at 1 p.m. at the Jesus Only Church, Bartley, W.Va. with Pastors: Roger Wood and James Tunnell officiating with burial to following in the Kennedy Cemetery, Three Forks, W.Va. Friends may call at the Jesus Only Church Wednesday evening after 6 p.m. with an evening service at 7 p.m. Active pallbearers will be nephews and cousins. Full military rites will be conducted at the cemetery by Members of Childs Gentry Post No. 7360 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
