Steven Magdziarz Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 2, 2025.
Steven Michael Magdziarz, 54, of Rockford, Illinois, born on July 7, 1970, passed away on February 27, 2025, surrounded by family after a courageous four-year battle with cancer.

From an early age, Steve embraced life with energy and curiosity. His childhood was filled with football games, adventures with the Phantom Regiment drum corps, and playful mischief alongside his siblings. He had a knack for taking gadgets apart-though not always putting them back together-on his parents' front porch. As he grew older, his passions evolved but never faded. He found joy in tending to his yard and plants, often barefoot and shirtless, reveling in the simple pleasures of nature.

Above all else, he took immense pride in being a loving father, devoted husband, and, someday, a perfect grandfather in spirit. His wisdom and warmth left an indelible mark on those who knew him; he taught by example to lead with the heart and speak the mind.

Steve is survived by his beloved wife, Christina (Conti) Magdziarz; his children, Zachary, Taylor (Coltin), and Jackson; his parents, Joseph and Sandra Magdziarz; his brother, Joseph Magdziarz III (Michelle); and his sister, Michelle Nordheim (David). He also leaves behind nephews David Nordheim (Alaina) and Joey Magdziarz IV; nieces Alexis DiGiovanni (Tanner) and Mikayla Magdziarz; great-niece Joey Gianna DiGiovanni; as well as his mother- and father-in-law, Steve and Loretta Conti. He was preceded in death by his beloved sister, Nichole Magdziarz.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to Heartland Hospice for their compassionate care during Steve's final days-especially Tammy Christiansen; social worker Pam; chaplain Pam; nurses Cass and Amber; and a very special thank you to nurse Deb for treating Steve as her own until the very end.

A celebration of Steve's life will be held on Sunday, March 9, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Rockford Country Club, 2500 Oxford Street, Rockford, IL 61103.

Steve's legacy of love and laughter will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to all who mourn his passing.
