Steven Millard Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Aug. 19 to Aug. 20, 2023.
Steven Michael Brian Millard, an Irish Catholic born on October 25, 1957 lived a full and rich life until pneumonia took him to the Lord on August 4, 2023.

A lifelong Bay Area resident born in San Francisco, then later moved to Pleasanton, a town he loved for the rest of his life. Gone before him are his parents Paddie and Jack Millard.

From playing water polo at Amador, to semi-professional football, to a drug free powerlifting competitor, sports helped to shape his life. A man ahead of his time, he trained firefighters, professional athletes, and owned his own sports specific training facility called Iron Tech through the 80's and 90's. He later became the Sports and Conditioning coach for the San Jose Sharks. His greatest sports accolade was to be the driving force and training coach to his brother Keith Millard an All -Pro Minnesota Viking.

Whether on a sports field, riding his Harley to Arizona, playing drums in his band, or recording with musicians, this man lived every part of his life on his own terms. He was a man's man, commanded a room and loved to laugh and party with the best of them.

Among the many that loved him, he is survived by his four beautiful children, Nikki Crandall, Travis Millard, Stevie Rooney and Shayla Millard who will take the best of him with them as they live to honor their father's life. Steven is also survived by his sister Karen, brothers, Tony, Keith and Mike Millard. They will forever hold him in their hearts for the way he stayed true to being the "big brother" to them all.

Steven loved his family, his friends, his sports, music and Harley. And if you listen carefully you can hear him hoisting a beer and toasting to all that loved him.

May the sun shine warm upon your face, The rain fall soft upon your fields, and until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of His hand...

Gone too soon, and sorely missed, Godspeed Steven.

Steve had the biggest prescience I´ve known in a person. As a proud drummer for our band, Mamaluke, his smile and kind approach to everyone and everybody he interacted with, was contagious....to say the least. Great friend, great drummer. God´s speed Steve. Chris, gtr. stage right.

Meeting Steve with Benny while coaching in Amador's wrestling room in 1983 a week after moving to Ca. Just heard of Steve's passing. Steve help form our team & was a huge part in my success in winning the title of 17 & 19 teenage state champion at many power lifting events. Steve was always smiling & really enjoyed his growing family & friends. RIP my brother..

I´m just seeing this about Steve & I am heartbroken. Not sure why, but thought I´d reach out & see how he was doing, it´s been awhile since we caught up. Steve & I got to know each other both working at the SJ Sharks. Reconnected 20 years ago & stayed in touch for occasional meals & movie buddies. Since the pandemic we hadn´t been in touch quite as much except checking in with each other & after his surgeries. Steve was so proud of getting back in shape:) He was always a warm & genuine friend & will always have a special place in my heart. Condolences to his kids, grand babies & siblings who he always spoke so highly of. Big hug to you Steve.

I have some great memories of working out at Iron Tech with Steve while he got me ready to enter the police acdemy.
But my favorite is the night Lizzy and Steve took us to the drive in in his blue van
One great cousin

Great brother! Everything we did , was related to sports, mostly football. That was our bond. All the training we did together over the years made us very close. Steven was one of the best, if not the best-"sports specific" trainers in California, arguably the whole country. I know without him I would not have had the success that did, playing in the NFL. Those are the times I´ll always cherish and never forget our bond.
