Steven Lynn Plumhoff, of Columbia, Maine, passed away in Keene, New Hampshire on May 8th, 2025 after a battle with a long illness. Steve was born on November 1st, 1946 to Lynman George Plumhoff and Evelyn Elsie Roforth Plumhoff in Fairmont, Minnesota.

Steve graduated from Truman High School, Minnesota in 1965, where he was a varsity wrestler. Steve went on to attend the Minneapolis College of Art and Design where he was awarded the Ethel Morrison VanDerlip Award, the highest award granted to a graduating senior in 1969.

Steve was drafted into the Army in 1970 to serve his county in Vietnam. There he was awarded an Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, 2 OS Bars and was honorably discharged in 1971.

After, Steve enrolled in the Rhode Island School of Design earning his Masters degree in Fine Arts. There he met the love of his life, Karen. Steve saw Karen across the campus green and fell in love with her. He later won her heart by offering her a wooden cane because he saw that she was struggling to get around campus with a broken foot. This sparked a life-long, loving marriage to Karen and in June 2024 they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Together they had one daughter, Eva Therese.

An artist and an outdoors enthusiast, Steve loved nothing more than spending time with his family and friends. Always in his workshop, he would craft fine furniture and wood art sculptures that decorated their house. He spent his time being an active member of the Columbia community, even being a member of the Columbia Volunteer Fire Department. Steve was an active member of the Pleasant River Fish & Game Conservation Association where he supported many of their community improving initiatives.

Steve was pre-deceased by his loving wife Karen E. Plumhoff and is survived by his beloved daughter Eva Therese (Plumhoff) Cunningham and her husband Chris, his identical twin sisters, Pricilla Boehm and Patricia McCormick, his sister-in law, Beverly and her husband Ben DiPaolo, along with very large family filled with love.

A celebration of life will be held at the Columbia Town Hall, 106 Epping Rd, Columbia, ME 04623, on Saturday May 24th, 2025 at 1PM. In lieu of flowers, Steve would love nothing more than a donation in his name to a charity of your choice.
