KILGORE -- Services for Steven Murphy Reeves, 23, of Kilgore, will be four p.m., Friday, June 10, 2005, at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel, with the Reverend Father Mark Kusmerick officiating. Burial will follow in the Rusk County Memorial Gardens. Steven died Tuesday, June 7, 2005, as the result of an automobile accident. He was born July 17, 1981, in Longview, Texas. Steven was a 1999 graduate of Kilgore High School. He attended Southern Arkansas University, where he played football and then semi-pro football for the Arkansas Xtras. In May of this year, he earned a bachelor of science in kinesiology at Stephen F. Austin State University, where he was a member of the Epsilon Omicron chapter of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. Steven was to be employed by Kilgore Independent School District as a middle school coach for the 2005-2006 school year. He was passionate about sports. Steven lived each day to the fullest. He was a loving, caring son and brother. Steven was "easy come, easy go," but very passionate about God, his family, and his fraternity. His motto was "God, Family, and Pikes." Steven is survived by his mother, Jo Beth Reeves of Kilgore; father, Kenneth Wayne Reeves of Kilgore; sister, Jennifer Lynn Reeves of Kilgore; chosen brother, John Wesley Morris of Dallas; grandmother, LaVelle Blair of Kilgore; uncle and aunt, Jerry and Signe Reeves of Kilgore; numerous cousins; and all of his fraternity brothers. The family will receive friends at Rader Funeral Home Thursday evening, June 9, 2005, between six and eight p.m. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ruby Stevenson Taylor, G. E. "Buddy" Stevenson, Jimmie Murphy Reeves, and R. A. "Bob" Blair. Pallbearers will be Tim Want, Justin Crawford, Jonathon Healey, Evan Smith, Jonathon Mason, Jonathon Gentry, Bela Nagypal, and Eric Morales.
