Steven was my cousin, his father being one of my mother's younger brothers. What a handsome man he was, typical of the Saling family. We lived in different parts of the country and seldom got to see each other, only once in a while at particularly large family gatherings at our Grandarent's home
in rural southwestern Kentucky. But I remember him as of gentle nature and fun loving, not above playing un-harmful jokes on other family members in his youth. I am truly sorry he is gone and I ask God in prayer to comfort those who loved him
in their sorrow over his loss.

I'm remembering you today Steve on the anniversary of your passing from this world to the eternal world which is our true home and destiny with our Creator. Your caring and generous ways in giving of your time, talents and love live on in my life and the lives of those you've touched in our island community of Key West. As I wrote 5 years ago - "Death never ends a relationship" because we are spiritual beings created to live forever which the bonds of this physical earth can never hold back. I still feel the impact of special memories we shared and your thoughtful ways. I love you and thank you Steve. I'll always remember your beautiful smile, your radiant eyes and your heart of a lion - ♌! "God Bless And Keep You In His Sacred Heart Now And Forever"!

It is hard to believe that 5 years has passed since you left this world. I still keep several of your messages on my phone that I can listen to when I want to hear your voice again! Even today after all these years tears fill my eyes as I remember you. You live on in me and all those you have touched and boy what an accomplishment.

I was sad to just find out almost a year later that Steven Saling passed away. He and I worked at US Airways together in the early 2000s and traveled a few places together. As well as invited me to his amazing halloween parties at the Singer Mansion. He had a heart of gold and would give you the shirt off his back if need be. He will be missed a great deal!!! From heaven to earth, continue to smile on Steve, and show them beautiful pearly whites!

I remember being new in Pittsburgh in 2004. I was 27 years old at the time and was both intrigued and intimidated by you. I may have had "a crush". I remember how after meeting you I wanted so much to be a man of your caliber in terms of kindness, worldliness, with subtle intensity and a bit of mystery. I remember the first time I visited the Singer Mansion. It was the early evening in autumn n Wilkinsburg... The home up atop the hill. It gave me a bit of a fright. I made a joke about the place being like something from "Scooby Doo" and I remember the way you looked at me. Your eyes so intense and piercing. The home was amazing, it was old meets new: modern artwork on a the backdrop of the Industrial Age skill and craftsmanship. I'm so sorry that when I moved away a few years later that I fell out of touch. You were living your passion and I was in a new city working. I thought of you earlier this week and decided to google you and was in tears when I read this obituary as I looked at your photo. You touched so many lives and it shows in all of these beautiful tributes here. Until we meet again, Sir. Your spirit and your beautiful soul left a lasting impression on so many and you will never be forgotten . Sending up hugs from here to you up there.

Today is Easter Sunday April 5, 2015 and I felt Steve's presence in my thoughts and prayers. I sent him a text on April 1st and was going to text him today to wish him a Happy Easter. I felt compelled to search his name on the website since I had not heard from him in awhile. I just found out this Easter Day that he had passed on January 15, 2015. I've known Steve since before he retired from US Airways in 2007. We met when I was working for Continental Airlines at Key West International airport. He has been a wonderful friend whose big heart has touched the community of Key West. The last time I saw him was the summer of 2014 when he was flying out because I worked as a Transportation Security Officer with TSA. As always he sported a beautiful smile and who can ever forget those piercing radiant eyes which his hats can never hide! Whenever I looked into his eyes, I knew what a beautiful soul God has blessed him with - as the saying goes: "the eyes are the windows to the soul" ! My condolences to Michele , Paul and to all the lives that Steve had touched and blessed. Death never ends a relationship. Steve will continue to live on in our hearts, memories and lives until one day in God's time and place we will all be reunited where there will be no more sickness, suffering nor death, but only life abundant and eternal ! I love you Steve - God Bless and Keep You In His Sacred Heart Now and Forever - Happy Easter - The Lord is Risen and so will we !

I am so sorry to have heard, through the internet, of Steven's passing. He was my cousin and I had hopes of meeting up with him in Florida this year. My condolences to his sister Sandra and her family, all the other cousins, on both sides and to Paul, Michelle, and his many friends.

Steven was my first cousin, there were nine
of us Saling Cousins, he was one of the
younger ones and I am the oldest. Now,
there are only four of us left, Marti, myself, Narda and his sister, Sandra. We didn't get to see each other very often because of distance, just special famil;y
gatherings at our Grandparents home in rural
Kentucky. Because the extended family was
sort of scattered clear across the country, we tried to keep up with what each was doing over the many years mostly by word
of mouth through aunts and uncles. The last aunt and another cousin also died in
the past year or so. We will miss Steven,
a fine, kind and gentle man and our best wishes and sympathy go out to all who loved him. May God bless the remaining years for
the rest of us until we, too, cross the great. Those already gone are not forgotten.

Written with love,

Penny
divide.
I had not seen this picture before, but like all the Saling men and their descendents, he was a handsome dude. I
never got up to see his old "Singer Mansion and I am really sorry for that. Narda and another cousin, Jimmy, Stephen and I had all rehabbed older homes and loved beautiful old things. Who can say that tendency is heredity but it does seem

I thought Steve would live forever. He overcame one health challenge after another, intent on living his life fully and as long as possible. Steve visited me in the hospital once after surgery, sharing his commitment that I have a complete and healthy recovery. He was generous and persistent and a gift to his communities.
