In memory of
Lowell Zavada
August 17, 2025
I grew up next door to Steve & have many good memories of times shared. They were always fun, always joyful. He was kind and caring and I have no memory of him ever mistreating anyone or any thing. After I finished school I left the area and only saw Steve briefly but he was still the same guy. I am so happy that he maintained a life of love and kindness. He found the true wealth in life. Thank you Steve for always being so kind and generous with your friendship. Lowell Zavada, Melrose, Florida.

Although it has been a few years Steve is the kind of person to leave a lasting impression. If we´d have spoken would´ve been like talking a day earlier. Funny memory we used to say "your not from here, don´t you" Rest In Peace Steve and condolences to the family

My brother Ron met Steve when he came to Lansing. They formed a lifelong friendship. My family met Steve and we "adopted" him to the family. He was at dinners, holidays when he was not up north. He was always there for us. Friendship, shoulder to cry on, lending a helping hand. Steve was over recently. As I walked him to his truck he said "I love you Sheri". I said "I love you too Steve". I said hi to River and Willie and waved goodbye never knowing it would be the last time. My brother Steve invited him to dinner in a week or so to have Ingcredible. We were looking forward to getting together. There will forever be a hole in our hearts, a void in our lives, and an empty place at the Hatch family dinner table. Sheri (Hatch)Klein

Some of the best memories I have on stage were with Steve. Funny, articulate, and elevated us all. We were out of contact for many years but we were going to do some recording together before our mutual bandmate and close friend died. He was a tremendous human being.

I was saddened to hear of your death and felt a real sense of loss. I was impressed by Mark's message of your accomplishments. You lived fully and well. I share your love of animals, especially needy ones like those at the shelters and will make a donation in your name. Love, Aunt Dolly

I did not know Steve personally either but his music gave me so much joy in the 90's. My friend's got me into Bop even before I attended MSU. I got to experience his genius through Bop and Daddy Longlegs. I was honored to go to a reunion show in Lansing in 2014 - what a blast that was. Sending prayers and strength to his family and all who loved him. I will cherish those memories forever. Word up

I didn't really know Steve. It´s more like I knew of him through the music he made and the company he kept, his friends and bandmates in Bop Harvey. I know he touched alot of people with his infectious spirit and bold presence. I know he will be missed and remembered for his huge spirit and immense talent. Safe passage to you sir.

When I first started putting long miles on my bike I listened to my favorite music to get me thru the long rides. Bop Harvey was my favorite to keep me upbeat and keep me dancing on my pedals. What a truely inspirational man. I was blessed to meet him two summers ago. Keep playing in heaven.
