Steven Smart Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 16, 2024.

It is with sadness that we announce the death of Steven Dewayne Smart. Steve died on September 24, 2024, in Little Rock, Arkansas at the age of 72. He was born on June 1, 1952, in Grants Pass, Oregon to Flay William (Bill) and Miladeen Dorla (Millie) Smart (nee Hines).

Steve is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Roberts Smart of Little Rock, Arkansas; his son, Cory Smart of Lincoln, California; his daughters, Erin Smart of Spain; and Jessica Smart Gleason of Highlands Ranch, Colorado and his stepdaughter, Jennifer Hansen of Tumwater, Washington. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Heather Smart; his son-in-law, TJ Gleason; his grandsons, John Smart, Charles Smart, Bentley Gleason, and Cooper Gleason; and his great-grandson Lucas Smart. He is also survived by his brother, Flay William Smart, Jr., (Bill), and sister-in-law, Deb Smart, of Lewistown, Montana. He also has a nephew, and several nieces, aunts, and cousins as well as good friends throughout the country.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Millie Smart of Arkadelphia, Arkansas; his wife, Linda Brown Smart of Fort Mohave, Arizona; his daughter, Sara Smart, and son-in-law, John Hough, of Walla Walla, Washington; and his brother, Michael Allen Smart of The Dalles, Oregon.

Steve spent much of his childhood in Humboldt County, California, where he graduated from Arcata High School. He completed his studies at Fresno State University to become a licensed physical therapist. Later, he resided in Fort Mohave, Arizona, where he enjoyed a highly successful career as a physical therapist for many years.

Steve leaves behind many great friends and beloved family members. Also, he is missed by his beloved pets. His love and care for animals, whether they be cats, dogs, or birds--and their reciprocal love for him--was remarkable. He will be sorely missed by all.

There will be no formal funeral services per Steve's request; however, his ashes will be spread in a private ceremony.
