Steven Smasal Obituary
Steve was known for always putting family and friends before himself, offering guidance, laughter, and love to everyone who crossed his path. Whether on the ice, on the field, on the water, or over a good conversation, his warmth and spirit left a lasting mark on all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Joan Smasal; his brother, Jack (Lyn) Smasal; his sister, Patty (Martin) Schramm; and his grandson, Jesse Smasal.
He is survived by his loving wife, Kimberly Jewell Smasal; his sons, Jesse (Tammy) and Sam; his grandson, Oliver; and his sister, Barbara (David) Hulit; and many nieces and nephews.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his family, friends, former players, and the entire community.
A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, August 14, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Station 10, 754 Randolph Ave, Saint Paul, MN. All are welcome to join in honoring and remembering Steve.

Steve was one of the nicest and best men I´ve known. He coached our son for several years, and of all the coaches our children had in several sports, Steve stood out. He wanted to win, for sure, but it was more important to him to do things the right way, whether that was training, or conduct and tactics in a game. Despite his sometimes gruff demeanor, he was a truly caring and nice person. We will miss him.
Our condolences to his family, friends, and all the young men whose lives he was an important part of.

I grew up with Steve. He had a very kind and gentle soul. I also remember he was very spiritual. We shared a lot of life and laughter. The world is a sadder place with out him in it. My sincere condolences to his family and friends. Jeffrey Zopf

Steve will be missed by all that were fortunate to meet him. A great guy that would always make you smile when you saw him. I am fortunate to have known him - watch hockey, talk hockey and play hockey. A really great man that loved his family and friends. Be well sir - we will miss you and remember you.
