steve, you were the love of my life, best friend and soul mate. i am so thankful to God for every single minute i had shared with you. your smile and your love will remain with me forever. a poem i would like to share. author unknown. "death is nothing at all" death is nothing at all i have only slipped away into the next room. i am i, and you are you. whatever we were to each other, that we still are. call me by my old familiar name, speak to me in the easy way which you always used. put no difference in your tone, wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow. laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together. let my name be ever the household word that it always was, let it be spoken without effect, without the trace of a shadow on it. life means all that it ever meant. i am waiting for you in the interval, somewhere very near, just around the corner. all is well. rest in peace my dear husband. i will always love you.

Kathy, please allow me this indulgence.
Dude!!! This is your buddy Rick. I know that you can read this and that you're listening to me every day. I know that it's selfish...but I feel cheated. Me, you & the wives had many good times ahead of us. You and I were supposed to grow old together.
All of that aside...blessed were you for finding your calling with your Bluegrass music. I literally could not have been happier that you found your calling and that you were able to enjoy it. "Our Town" and "Wagon Wheel" were my favorites.
You had the magical gift of validating a person's importance upon a first chance meeting. Everyone who met you felt that they were the single source of your attention and praise. Thank you for making my family and I feel the same way.
Dude...You 'da MAN!!!
I already miss you....along with another couple thousand other heartbroken folks. Don't stay away too long and visit whenever you feel the urge. I have a Captain & Diet waiting for you.

Dear Kathy and Boys
I was shocked when I heard of the horrible tragedy. I had just seen Steve a few weeks ago in my office at M&I and he told me about the excitement of his riding his motorcycle and I told him to be safe. He was one of the most wonderful men I have ever met - Kathy my thoughts and prayers are with you at this time...please know there is now another ANGEL up in Heaven watching over you and your family.

Kathy & Family,
My sincerest condolences to all of you. I worked with Steve at We Energies. Liked him from the time he started. Steve was a very good worker, did his job well and was always willing to help his co-workers out. He spoke very highly of you, the boys and his pets. Absolutely loved his sense of humor. It was so much fun to discuss different topics with him. If the topic of our conversation was of a serious nature, somehow we'd end up laughing seeing the irony in it and if the topic was funny to start with, we would have laughed even harder and Steve was always good for belting out laughter. I will miss him.

The last time I saw Steve was at our Marquette Electronics summer picnic and he was with you Kathy. I remember thinking that I was so happy he found you and the two of you had children together. Steve was a wonderful man and a good friend and I am happy that he was blessed with a woman and children that he obviously adored. My sympathy goes out to you and your family.

Hey Steve-o. I believe you are up there somewhere. Thanks for bringing me into the band and for being so positive and accepting as I struggled to catch up. You always said that after your heart issues you greatly appreciated every day and it certainly showed. We are all better people for having known you---thanks for that. I will pray that your family finds strength during these difficult times.

I am an old high school friend of Steve's, and also exchanged letters with Steve while he was in military service. I had recently found him on a website for bluegrass concerts. He sent me some emails, and I was looking forward to seeing him play soon. I remember Steve always had a positive attitude and good sense of humor, & a nice hearty laugh! He will be dearly missed.
